nice cheap gadget
For the price, this is a great little item to have in your kitchen. Key words "for the price". As long as you're aware of the limitations you will love this! What are the limitations you ask? Well, just don't try to put yourself half of an onion or four large carrots in it. The little grates cut either quarter by quarter or 0.375 x 0.375. It's up to you to make your slices an equal thickness, otherwise you will get longer pieces. When I make soup for example, I just slice off quarter inch pieces of onion, and place them in the machine one at a time. Perfect. Same holds true for carrots, zucchini or anything else you can think of. This is not going to completely replace your knife, but it's still a real time saver. The other day I made some vegetarian lasagna was shiitake mushrooms and onions. I think I needed to prepare about 3 cups mushrooms, which would have taken quite a while with a knife. I had the whole thing done in a matter of minutes with this gizmo.Just don't try to put too much weight on it or you're going to destroy it. I think people get the wrong idea from the picture that you can put a half an onion in this and end up with quarter by quarter inch diced pieces. It doesn't work that way. You as the operator need to control the thickness, and don't stack things. Easy does it and this thing will last for a good while. If you need a commercial dicer there's a fine one made for the kitchen aid for about $200. With that you can use long pieces of vegetables, as a knife rotates around and trims things to length. It's made out of a good quality stainless steel, etc. No mystery here you get what you pay for.I seriously doubt the blades are going to last long term on this unit, but even if I replace this thing twice year it's worth the money for me. I'm amazed how frequently I use this thing. Just clean it up when you're done with it, and make sure to clean the blades from the backside or with a toothbrush, as they are quite sharp. I sliced myself by accident on the first cleaning. For 12 bucks, do it!

I do not recommend this product
I bought this chopper several months ago. The first time I tried to dice tomatoes was a mess. The really sharp blades did not cut the peeling (strange) and the smashed meaty part of the tomato was disappointing. I thought I had done something wrong. So I tried turning another piece of tomato over and tried again. Still did not work. It has worked when I have used it with other produce, but most of the time I wanted the pieces a different size or shape than the blades cut. I was not impressed with how it did with celery strings. They were just a mess in the blades. With the blades as sharp as they are I did not understand how it could not cut the celery strings. This afternoon I was trying to chop carrots. I made sure all was in place and slammed down the lid like they show on TV. It didn’t work the lid would not go down all the way to chop the pieces of carrot I had already cut into small enough pieces to fit on the small blade area. I kept trying. I had heard this chopper was so wonderful. As it turned out I did get the pieces of carrots chopped and with it was pieces of the plastic lid. The blades had cut off pieces of the protruding tiny squares that push the food through the blades. This is not worth the time and trouble. Not only do I have to cut the vegetables small enough to fit the blades (I will just chop them the rest of the way myself for now on), I also had to pick pieces of plastic out of the carrots. I checked to make sure I had all the parts aliened & tried it again - More pieces of plastic. What a waste of money, time and space to store this contraption. This product has been very disappointing. I would rather have my $26 plus S&H back and chop the produce myself rather than have to cut whatever I want to chop into small pieces to “save time” chopping. What a disappointment. I do not recommend this product. It seemed like a good idea but it is not worth the trouble. The only thing about this product I like is the little cleaning tool that does a good job of cleaning between the small places in the lid. The sharp blades are dangerous to clean and I always rinsed them right away to make sure nothing had time to dry to them. That did not matter when a small piece of whatever would get stuck in the little squares. I suppose I could have used a toothpick to keep from getting to close to the blades.....

Such a time saver
This vegetable chopper is hands down of of the most useful additions to my kitchen I think I've bought in the last few years. I bought the 4 in 1 version and I've used it almost every time I've cooked since my purchase. Initially I was having some issues chopping onions using the smallest cube insert (I think that's the dicing one?), and I was cutting the onions and other vegetables into flat slices before putting those in the chopper. However, after experimenting a little more, I've taken to using the larger cube insert (I believe it's the chopping one) and just cutting those vegetables into quarters. The larger insert also seems to be the most effective one for cutting tomatoes for obvious reasons. Anything with a thicker or rubbery skin, I found it easier to chop with the skin side down so it's pressing straight against the blades. The only aspect that I think could be improved upon slightly is the area of the square inserts could stand to be slightly larger. As it stands, I usually cut most vegetables down a fair amount before putting them in the chopper, otherwise the part of the vegetable that sticks out onto the green rim gets smashed and clogs up the little white teeth. The cleaning of the teeth with the comb was also a little tricky, but isn't an issue now. Instead of running the comb straight down through the teeth, dig it behind the stuck food, and use a see-saw motion with your hand to scoop it out at an angle - it makes it much faster and simpler.

Mr TIPS I only review products i use
THE GOODsharp blades these is very safe to use and once you get used to it u will be chopping away fast perfect for onions you will never cry again actually you will cry tears of joy when you used this. your work flow will speed up and you can just leave it in the container do not get the as seen on tv version it break easy this one from freshware is very good quality you will thank me later when this one holds up after a year or 2THE BADthe blade width and length is small its perfect for onions but u have to chop it in 2 and if its a really big onion in 4the straight cut blade is useless to me as its so small i would suggest getting a madaline cutter that will pair with this device perfect you will have less hassleTHE TIPS1 what i like doing is chopping onions then just storing it in the fridge then i have onions on ready to go keep in mind i cook alot so if you dont i would suggest these2 clean is difficult with the small blades buy yourself a brush from the dollar store the ones that for washing dishes that way you just run under water and use the brush with a poking motion to get rid of clog between the blades this works perfectly

Forget those devices you have to slap to get your veggies chopped up. This one works better!
I'm very impressed with this product! In all honesty, I bought it for one-time use use, as an aid to prepare for a large meal. The price was low, and I assumed that it wouldn't last much longer than that one use. Very happily I admit I was wrong, and I've been using this chopper several times a week since I bought it! I was completely surprised at the quality of the device, and how well and easily it chops.I find chopping onions to be the most horrible task normally, and now I don't mind doing it at all, as there are no more stinging eyes. This device chops and drops, pushing the onions through the blades and into the container below. Love that the container also has measurements on the side so you can quickly gage how much you've chopped. Also impressive is how much pressure this device can take. I pressed down with considerable force to get a very stubborn onion through, and after hearing a big "snap", I thought I broke the device. Nope! It was the onion that snapped, and the device was ready to keep going. This has become one of my of my favourite kitchen gadgets!

Picadora
Es la segunda picadora que pido. Me gustó mucho la primera. A veces se atora la verdura con el picador más fino pero me ahorra tiempo para cocinar. Buen filo. Me gusta porque tiene pocos aditamentos.
