This crate is perfect for carrying my dog in the car. Sturdy but easy to install in the vehicle. Perfect size for my Australian Shepherd dog. This is a very sturdy dog car seat and I was really excited to get it for our 25 lb puppy to grow into (we added a bed as a booster for now). I assembled it and installed it in our car only to realize that once it's clipped into place and is basket shaped, you must lift the dog over the high sides! I thought this listing mentioned a zipper or opening to let the dog into the car seat but the sides are rigid and you have to fully collapse it to get it low enough to have a dog jump in. Unfortunately this means that unless you want to lift your dog over the edge of this (about chest height for me) it is not worth it. That said everything else about it is good. It fits the height of my seats well and was easy to install and has held up to our puppy. I put it in weeks ago and have not had to adjust it or fix it other than tying one of the straps up as it slipped a little. Would have been ideal if one or both sides zipped open.

This seems to be one of the best car seats for dogs that I could find on Amazon. I spent a lot of time looking for something safe, affordable, and just the right fit for a medium size dog. This one definitely fits the bill. It's very easy to install and can be transferred to our second vehicle in an instant. The two metal side rods included (there's a front rod already built into the seat) provides extra stability to the car set, especially when my baby-boy stands up to look out the window, like he loves to do. The see-through, breathable mesh on both sides also protects my dog from moving around. He is confined to his car seat, and no where else. The included tether is okay, but I ordered a different one, just in case (Kurgo Direct To seatbelt Tether for Dogs, Universal Car seat belt for Pets). I also purchased a bed (found it on sale at TJ Maxx) to fit in the bottom of the carrier so that he can be comfortable if he wants to lay down and sleep. I have an 18lb. silky-poo (half poodle, half silky terrier, so I ordered the small (21" x 13" x 19"). It's the perfect size, with plenty of room for him. This car seat will definitely keep him safe, secure and in one place!

This item is not as sturdy as the photos make it look. You have to really rely on the seats in the front of the seat you put the dog seat on for it to stay in that “box” looking mode. I’m in the middle of debating whether I should just return it or at least give it a try on our road trip like I originally bought it for. When I set it up, I couldn’t see any option to safely add the seatbelt so it’s either keep my dog in the thing without a seat belt or add the seatbelt but no dog seat. Ridiculous compromise on safety since a seatbelt for dogs is almost as important as it is for humans. Truthfully the only thing that is making me want to keep it is because it fits in the middle back seat of a Chevrolet Silverado with room for both the chairs beside it to have occupants.

My dog absolutely hates riding in the car and we recently took along road trip of a 1000 miles and back and she would peek out of the window and then settle down in this and it seemed to provide comfort. There are times when I do lower it, so she can be in contact with me. I added a couple of carabiners to extend the length of the Seatbelt strap, which I did replace with a different one. So she can rest her head on the console and get some comfort from me. Overall, I would recommend this brand. I did have a different one that I didn't even bother using, because the quality wasn't what I had hoped. The straps that go spoonful the headrests are not the highest quality but they are functional. I have a 2020 Toyota RAV4 hybrid and this fits perfectly on the backseat, no overhang. I definitely feel it is safe for her, and as I mentioned, very calming.
