Benchmade - Jungle 153 Knife, Bolo Blade, Plain Edge, Coated Finish, Orange Handle

I have always loved Benchmade knives and this is no exception. When the package first arrived, I was a little surprised by the length of the actual blade. For some reason I thought it would be a little bit larger than it was, but that was probably just because I didn't read the specs as closely as I should have. Starting from the outside: The sheath seems like it is very high quality. It will easily attach onto a belt or a pack. The stitching has held up great so far and I don't foresee any problems with it. The actual blade is awesome. Like I said, it was smaller than I expected, but has a great weight to it. It cam VERY sharp from the factory, so I haven't even had to sharpen it yet. The handle is bright and visible and has great texturing that makes the bolo easy to handle and comfortable to grip. I'm very pleased with this purchase and can't wait to put it through the wringer.

I am a Benchmade fan and I have a few of their knives. The quality of this Benchmade knife is excellent and what I would expect of Benchmade. I wish there were more handle color choices and while that’s not a deal breaker it would be nice.My only real complaint is with the handle itself and the ergonomics of it. I have a medium large hand, the handle feels thin and hard to get a full grip on.The rubberized material tends to make my hands sweat within a few minutes. Luckily an easy solution to this is some sports grip tape. My choice was OMG Grips, this is a cheap add on really changes the whole grip for the better and improves the knife feel, fullness and grip.Good knife add the tape great knife!

I own a lot of knives and this one is a perfect user. Benchmade is a quality brand and it shines in this example of a large Camp / Bushcraft style knife. I purchased it specifically for our vacation this summer to Yellowstone Park but my daughter and I are using it on our weekend adventures now.You can spend more money on a large fixed-blade knife but I don't know why a person would.

Perfect for light trail clearing and following boundary lines in the woods. It is shorter than a machete. The balance is excellent for chopping - weight forward enough for a good chop but not so much as to be dangerous. Blade is thick in back with none of the scary flex I got with a cheap machete of similar shape. I wouldn't try to split wood with this knife and cutting 3" saplings would get old pretty quick.

Even though I can't think of any specific purpose I need this knife for ( no, it's not a machete or a sword and can't substitute for a small axe ) it's just so fricken cool I had to have it in my Benchmade collection. It has a nice heft to it, yet a slender feel in the hand, very much like a tactical tomahawk. You could use it around a campsite for sure.

This knife is Sharp! I have no idea why I bought this but so far it cuts open my mail like a champ! Even my packages that come in cardboard boxes with double tape is no match for this. Just be careful My friend cut her finger playing with this and not expecting it to be as sharp.

Great edge right out of the box, and well balanced knife. I have absolutely no need for a jungle knife as I will spend no time in the jungle, but it is a pretty cool knife and extremely well made like everything Benchmade does.
