Squeaky clean teeth!
Unexpectedly surprising at how clean my teeth feel after just 1 use. It does have a mild scent to it (the best comparison is to that of ginger root but not as strong) but it isn't overwhelming or off-putting like some people have described. It is a root, so you should expect it to be somewhat reminiscent of the plant it came from. Overall, I am happy with it. It comes in a convenient tube that makes it easy to carry and take with me when I'm on the go.

This is a great product and I wish I had known about these for years
This is a great product and I wish I had known about these for years. First, I would like to say that miswak is the perfect thing for me as I always have to be chewing something. These give me something to chew on that actually benefits my teeth and oral health. It is not surprising that westerners do not know about these because if we did, I think the entire toothpaste/toothbrush/whitening etc. industry would be out of business. These should really be taught in dental school and suggested by dentists. At first the smell is a bit off-putting but, one gets use to over time and it seems that within a couple of days, most of the smell goes away. Also, I would note that the taste is not bad at all, and nothing like the smell. Certainly, soaking them for 4 hours as the instructions state and with some mint oil (as suggested by other users) seems to do the trick. This might be where people that cannot get the fibers into bristles are failing. I noticed that it dried out after a couple of days of only using it once a day and I had some trouble with making new bristles. But, if you use it multiple times a day and just chew on it for some time throughout the day, new bristles are easy to make.I think my teeth are a bit whiter, but I am usually a bad judge of such things and I imagine it takes more time to whiten than the chemicals would. I enjoy having something that I can clean my teeth with after every meal or time I drink tea or coffee that is very convenient and I do not have to run to a sink and risk getting toothpaste on my shirt. Also, it is nice to just get into bed, clean my teeth and go to sleep.

Natural way to clean your teeth
First time user here. I'm giving this product three stars because I just used it twice (last night and this morning) and will have to use more to see its effectiveness. When the package arrived, one of the two miswaks looks as if there was no bark at all..it's just white, while the other miswak looks like the picture on Amazon. I opened the white one and it's wet...not sure if that's normal. But I didn't see any mold, so I proceeded to use it anyway, following the photo instruction. I looked up online and most people said to just soak the part that you're going to use, which is one end of the stick. But the photo instruction shows the entire stick soaked in a glass full of water. I dunno. I followed the miswak's club photo instruction anyway. The smell is strong but I can only smell it when I sniff it. Smells green...like plants, so that's normal. I tried it last night and this morning, and it's pretty fun, actually, to nibble and see a pack of small fibers that is strong enough to be rubbed against my teeth lol. One or two fibers fell apart while I was brushing. I just spit them out. I like it that it's slim enough to reach the teeth in the back, which normally my small toothbrush can't. My teeth felt smooth after brushing. I like it so far. Will be given more review soon. Cheers!

Awesome little "toothbrush"
I'd never heard of miswak or used it, but saw it recommended in a video for overall tooth care. (I'm in an all-out "gotta fix my teeth" phase right now). I LOVE the little tube and the piece of fabric, because I primarily bought miswak to use in the car after I have a coffee or a snack, driving around town for work. I wanted something that would help activate my saliva and clean my teeth since I can't be brushing my teeth in the car, haha. AND easy to store so it's not rolling around the glove compartment collecting dirt. This is the first one I've tried, but it seems like an excellent product. The packaging is great. After soaking, the strong smell is more palatable, and if you can get past it, after a day or so it takes on just a kind of "artichoke-like" scent. That's the way I'd describe it! It's actually quite soothing.I really love the feel of the "bristles" and chewing on it satisfies the dog side of my personality ;) I also like sucking on it after I rub it around my mouth. (So, for those who are orally fixated, it's win-win). I feel like it gets my teeth clean and smooth! I haven't noticed any major improvements other than that, since I've been using for only about a week and a half... so as for whitening or long-term benefits, I can't say. But it just feels good to use, and does an excellent job replacing an "on the go" toothbrush, and that's enough for me.One thing I don't love is the little bits of the bark sometimes flake off and I have to spit them out or, probably, end up swallowing some. It's not a big deal, and only a few small bits now and then. Maybe just the "way of miswak", but that's why it's 4 stars instead of 5. Or maybe I'm being too rough! I dunno. But hey, it's natural, so better bits of bark than plastic, right?Try it! It's natural, fun and will make your teeth feel smooth. I also have receding gums and it feels gentle enough to use so I'm not worried about aggravating anything.
