This is very detailed about each area of the world showing both very small niche producers and those in clusters in a region where a lot of wine is produced.Even for a novice you can learn a lot but a person who enjoys wine might find one they want to try after reading this book.

In the middle of picking it up again and reading it, discovering new parts, I couldn't resist the urge to euologise 'publicly' about the book. If you like wine, and in particular if you appreciate that brilliant aspect of the hobby that ties the exact qualities of the drink to the geography, even to the minutest details of terrain, then this book is simply paradise. Learning the exact lay of the land of a particular region, in most cases down to the locations of the individual vineyards, whilst drinking a glass of something produced precisely in that place is wonderful. But I also wanted to praise the earlier sections of the book, before the maps begin. As with the geographic sections, here the writing is just impeccable: authoritative, to-the-point, but also maintaining that feeling of a friendly hand on the back. And visually the book is superb in the judicious choice of diagrams and the way everything is laid out on the page. It really outshines and surpasses other good wine books I've previously read and enjoyed. I couldn't recommend it highly enough.

Looks beautiful, a great coffee table book. I flipped through it before I gifted it and it seems very detailed and interesting. Giftee loves it!

Bought a copy of this book when it first came out many years ago and it was my wine bible. I am pleased to say that the latest edition is as informative and interesting as the original.Highly recommended if you like wine and want to know more about the history and quality of what you are drinking.

If you are a wine buff this is a great book to have on wine regions and grape types.
