Tintin: The Art of Hergé
W**G
A Must Have for all Tintin Fans
There are two types of people in the world, those who like Tintin and those who don't. Of the former group, a vast majority will really like this lavishly illustrated and informative book published by the Tintin Museum with materials from its collections.I should start by saying that this book is not aimed at children, but rather those who grew up reading Tintin. The illustrations are certainly suited for children, but the text is is not.The first short chapter deals with the design and building of the Tintin Museum located outside of Louvain, Belgium. This is of course included because the book is published by the museum. The second chapter is a biographical sketch of Herge copiously illustrated with early drawings, sketches and photos. The third chapter deals with the characters of the Tintin Books and their origin, as well as some of the well known objects, such as the rocket from the Moon Adventure or the Fetish from "The Broken Ear". The next two chapters deal with the sources for the adventures and the world created by Herge. The book concludes with some photos of Herge at the height of his fame and a brief review of all 24 Tintin Books and their publishing history. There is also a Bibliography, so this book is actually useful for research on this subject. The book contains hundreds of illustrations, the vast majority of which I have never seen, and I own all 24 Tintin Books as well as all guides and books on Herge and Tntin in English. If you are a Tintin Fan you will love this well printed and beautifully illustrated and also informative book.Review by Walter O. Koenig

Good book, poor quality
This is a great book for those who want to know about the man behind Tintin. At first look, the book also seems to be of high quality: thick glossy pages and the like. But during the first reading, the pages started falling out. I would have considered five stars if it wasn't for this problem.

Great book!!!
It was a wonderful book that gave me a greater insight into the life of Herge ... I always loved Tin Tin and this book was a great way to learn about the man behind the comic!!! I love to see process and there was a lot of images that showed HOW he worked ... definitely a book for fans of Tin Tin and comics in general!!!
