Can the bottom bunk go in the opposite side?

I'm sure you could make it happen but it would no longer be stable or safe for children. I also feel if you modified the set-up you would void any warranty and put those who sleep on it at risk. We've had this for several months and works perfectly as it is designed for. Easy to put together IF done as instructions state.
