Western Digital WD20PURX Surveillance 2TB Internal Hard Drive (Purple)

I had been using this with CCTV for a month now with 8 cameras, no issues and it works well. There is no latency even if you were to reply the recording while the camera is actively writing to the disk. So far holding up very well and no issues concerns to be reported. But only time will tell, it there are any issues. Thanks!

in my system there are other hdds which are working fine. this hard drive never worked or detected . I checked all possible issues. other hdds are working when replaced in its place. so it looks like I got defective product and my entire money is wasted. I don't know to replace the item also since amazon replacement option is not there for this product. complete wastage of my hard earned money.

I purchase two 2 TB WD Purple surveillance HD, one in June 2016 and second Dec 2016. July 16 purchased HD worked continuously for 3 years and 9 months. Today it faced a fatal death with multiple sector failure.😭

does what it says and its from a reputable company... im currently using a 4TB WD purple hdd in my main DVR running 24x7 for the past year without any problem and i expect this to do the same... i used to use seagate barracuda drives in my dvr but they would always heat up and crash after a year of running 24x7 in my main dvr but these wd purple drives dont seem to crash running 24x7...

Surveillance grade drives tend to have a somewhat lower (IO transfer) speed rating than regular/ blue ones. However it's unlikely that you will reach that limit in a running system anyways. On the other hand I expect the surveillance grade drive to be more robust in the long run.BTW WD drives have failed more often than Seagate for me even during their warranty periods. However WD appears to have better warranty support in India compared to Seagate.

I had really very bad experiences with Seagate Drive, & recently four 3TB Seagate died, they were only 2 years old, but I've WD Green 3TB, Black 2TB, Purple two 6TB. Red & Purple are new, but my green & black; I drove they 24X7, 365 days but nothing happened to them. I also have couple of Hitachi HDD's from 1TB-8TB...price is the issue then just go with the WD Drive, they are more reliable than Seagate's...
