Got a cutting board?
My cutting board, although medium heavy, was still moving around on the countertop. The holds the cutting board is place. No movement. Highly recommended!

Game-changing
I do a lot of cooking and baking, and my boards slide all over the counter. I don't like using the wet towel trick because of the problems it can cause.I used this mat a couple hours after I got it to make the regular loaf of bread I bake every few days. That requires a 10-minute knead, which I do by hand because I enjoy it.For the first time ever, no matter how I tried to get that board to move after placing it on this mat, it didn't budge so much as a centimeter. And I really tried to get it to slip, too. Both my wooden and marble boards stayed put. I got the marble board to move about an inch toward me during a vigorous slap-and-fold knead, where you literally take the dough, stretch it a bit, and then slap it energetically down again on the marble. This aids in gluten development. The act of the slap portion caused the board to "skip" the tiniest bit, so when I pulled the dough up again the board moved very, very slightly in toward my body as I continued to knead. Since the board is actually coming up of the mat during that type of knead, it's not surprising that it moves, but it moved very, very little. And for the rest of the knead it didn't move at all. I have a feeling that marble board wouldn't have moved at all of it didn't have little feet on it that helped the board bounce just a wee bit during the slapping.I tried a few different ways to get the thing to slide, spin, or otherwise fail. I used it to cook a full meal. I couldn't get it to slip or spin even when I tried to force it, after reading reviews from people mentioning that clockwise spin. It didn't happen for me, and I baked, sliced, chopped, kneaded, and bashed on this thing for six solid hours. This mat is worth every single penny and has now become a vital part of my kitchen. I'm so pleased, it's ridiculous. No more dealing with runaway kitchen boards!

Works great
Excellent quality, not cheap material at all. No slipping of the cutting board. The mat can be rolled up for easy storage in a cabinet or drawer. I highly recommend.

This Actually Works!
I never needed one before, but my expensive cutting board from Williams Sonoma started to bow. Granted, it is about 20 years old, but still a good board.I needed something to keep it stable and secure. This did the job perfectly! Kept the board from spinning around and creeping across the slick granite while in use.Definitely worth the $$.

Works—But Not Exceptionally…
I have this 22” X 16” mat installed on top of a stainless steel island table, with a 1.5” thick, 15 lb. 24” X 18” teak cutting board on top of it. And it works. But if I use slight force, I can move the board and the mat around. I got it on a great deal for $18, so I’m living with it. But at the regular price of $38, I would expect (and really wanted) more of an octopus hold. And that sort of an intense grip is just not here.So I think it’s a good product, and it works, but not exceptionally, nothing to rave over here. I like the fact that it was neat and easy to just put down and use. And while it works for my fairly large and heavy cutting board, if you’re looking for an exceptional hold, perhaps with a lighter board, this may not be the right mat; but then, truth be told, it is the only one I’ve ever used, so maybe this is as good as it gets, I wouldn’t know…?

Wish Amazon showed the size choices by default
This thing works great to stabilize my butcher block slab cutting board. The only bummer is that when I followed a link to Amazon from another site, only the 10 x 16" showed. It does okay on my 14 x 20" cutting board, but it would have been great to know it came in a larger size BEFORE I ordered it. When you search Amazon for San Jamar Cutting Board Safety Mat, a size option is presented and I ordered the larger 13 * 18" size. Borderline, but I'm not going to return the smaller one. Maybe I can find another use for it.Overall, let's face it, Amazon's search results and product pages have gone WAAAAY downhill. But to repeat, this thing does what it claims to do very very well.

Worlds great
We bought a big wood cutting board from Costco but it was slipping on our counter. This mat keeps it in place. It works perfectly.

The answer for keeping large boards in place
We have a 24” Boos block that hasn’t moved since we put this beneath.
