I use it for a bass clarinet and Leblanc contra-bass clarinet (paperclip style). Should work for a contra-alto clarinet.

Yes, they are. I used my clarinet stand peg on my bass clarinet stand as well as my tenor saxophone stand. I have a friend who also set up his alto sax, soprano sax, clarinet, and flute all on one massive Hercules rack! :D Definitely universal, definitely durable, and definitely reliable! :)
