I use to clean all my carpets with a Bissell spot cleaner which was ok, but use to leave the carpet wetter than I liked and it took me ages, so I got fed up and done some research on carpet washers that gave the best value for money in the mid range bracket, without getting a commercial one.I have to say using the rug doctor is so much better it has saved my back, and I really enjoy washing the carpets I find it like meditation and I like seeing the progress and seeing the dirty water knowing I am doing a good job, and seeing the final result. I think this is my first review ever, the machine is prebuilt and takes less thank 5 minutes to put together and up and running, if your not the strongest of persons it may be a bit heavy for you weighing 17kg but that weight helps push the machine into the carpet cleaning it a lot better, when using the machine its a pull back action whist pushing the button on top of the handle to release the the cleaning fluid, also there is a dial you can turn on the machine that sprays the cleaning fluid out the back giving it a chances to get deeper into the carpet before it is sucked up, it cleans in straight lines and I like that fact.you will go through quite a bit of cleaning fluid but that does not matter as it getting the carpets clean, emptying the dirty water tank is really easy just undo the lid and pour down the toilet, but be carful where the dirty water goes in from the machine can leak out there and make a mess, but you would have that problem with any design, it holds lots of water and picks most of it up, leaving it just damp to the touch unlike other carpet washers I have used.cleaning the dirty water tank I would recommend filling up the bath with water and submerge it in water and move it back and forth under the water to get the trapped hair and dirt where it goes in.I find it a great peace of kit and will be cleaning my carpets regularly with this device when it does eventually where out I will be sticking with rug doctor and moving to a commercial carpet cleaner, as I love cleaning the carpets and I am thinking on maybe starting a small carpet cleaning business, if you have any questions I would be happy to answer them. I am really happy with thus product and you will not be disappointed, just remember to buy pre-spray carpet cleaner to get them extra nice.

Bought to replace a Vax carpet cleaner that was getting a bit old and very impressed by the new machineThey have made it easy to use and it seems to adopt a lot of what makes the bigger Rug Doctor machine so popular with people who rent them from hire places.The tanks are easy to fill/empty and the built in measure for the detergent is very usefulThe Urine eliminator has worked very well . we had a cat who had marked their territory when they first moved in and it dealt with that easily and we chose to treat a carpet we have in a toilet we have and that was also noticeably fresher - so full marks on the spray too

I’ve been searching for a new carpet washer for sometime and extensive research, this model appealed to me more than other models on the market; I’ve been unsatisfied with my vax for sometime - it would take me 45 minutes to just clean a rug. With the ‘Rug Doctor’, it took me less than 15 minutes, and the clean is far superior than other machine that I have used. The rug is a lot brighter, and it was practically bone dry once I’d finished; I could walk on it straight away in socks without them getting damp. I’d highly recommend this model to anyone considering upgrading their current model, especially with homes who have dogs - you can only ignore muddy paw prints for so long. Tomorrow, I tackle my bedroom carpet and I’m looking forward to seeing the results!

I chose this carpet cleaner as it could clean both rooms and stairs and also spot clean for stubborn stains/quick clean ups.My first attempt went really badly as I hadn't noted that it must be pulled backwards only and had been breaking my back trying to push it. Once I googled what was going on has been brilliant!It is very quick, efficient and effective and has removed stains professional carpet cleaners couldn't.

I purchased a Rug Doctor Carpet Cleaner mainly to try to get a bad smell from under the carpet layer, but also to treat some blood and food stains. The bad smell was due to the carpet being manually cleaned previously but not dried properly. By the time it was dry, we had almost basement like smell in the bedroom. I also purchased 2 litres of RugDoctor Carpet Detergent with SpotBlok.The device came assembled with the only separate part being handheld upholstery attachment with hose. There was also 500ml sample of detergent in the box.Prons:- Clean water tank has a measure for solution build in lid.- Both clean and dirty water tanks are very easy to detach and lift with a handle- Both tanks have hole big enough for someone with small hands to dry it inside with the towels.- Separate sprinkle at the back of the cleaner, activated with a special dial for heavily soiled carpets.- Not activating the main red cleaning button during the usage let's you suck up excessive water from the carpetCons:- The device is quiet loud- Clean water tank gets emptied fast. Especially if you use additional sprinkle.- Lack of option to remove the rotating brush after use and clean the brush and the compartment where it operates. THIS WAS A MAJOR DOWNSIDE FOR ME. After 1 hour of use the brush and part of the device where it sits was extremely dirty and there was just no option to clean it.SUMMARYIt rather refreshed my carpet than cleaned. Advised dose of solution is 60ml for standard cleaning and 120ml for a dirty carpet. I used 240ml of solution and it still did not work as expected. The smell did not go away and carpet was more refreshed than cleaned. Unless you are planning to use it very often, renting more powerful device for £30 for occasional cleaning is better and more reasonable option.Sometimes....you just need a new carpet I guess.
