Quality Product. No Idea what those complaining about it were smoking???
I rarely write reviews. But there are times when it seems necessary, if not only to promote the quality of a product, but to challenge the inadequacy of other negative reviews. From the reviews of the nay-sayers who've whined regarding the flimsy quality of the plastic backing, I'm flummoxed. I bought three rolls of this stuff prepared to be working in my socks for the entirety of the project. So I laid out my first run with a 'kid gloves' mentality. And for no reason. The plastic backing is tough. I've walked across and over it (in boots) for the better of three days with the result of zero damage to the material. I've laid down multiple lengths of flooring to allow it to climitize and still no damage. Finally, I've installed some 1200 square feet of 'click' flooring, and still, with no damage. I really don't know what these other installers were doing given their complaints of damage or the ripping or tearing of the material. As for the difficulty of cutting the material, ????. All I can guess is that these DIY'ers are less competent than the average bear (fyi: coming from a seasoned professional with decades of experience). Simple application. I lay it into and up against the edges and corners. I use the blunted edge of something (scissor handles work well) to achieve a crease. Taking a razor knife, I slice a line through the plastic backing at the crease to achieve a template for cutting. I then take a decent pair of scissors and cut along my templet. A bit of fine tuning results in a clean functional fit. I could have simply used the razor knife for the complete cut, but couldn't remember where it was I'd placed my supply of blades. No doubt they'll appear soon enough now that I've finished the install. The product was delivered intact with no damage. As I've stated, this stuff is tough. I can only see that it'd take a whole lot of abuse to damage it in transit as some describe. At that point, send it back and let UPS deal with the fallout. Finally, as for the complaint that there were numerous times where lengths had been patched together with tape. Not in my experience. I bought the big rolls and having worked through three of them, there was no seaming. The rolls were complete and intact, arriving as a single run.Now for the product. Excellent. That adhesive strip and the overlapping plastic made for a quick effective seaming. As stated, the plastic backing is tough and adheres strongly to the fiber matting. The matting, itself, is a consistent and firmly compacted substrate (about 1/4"), which rolls out easily and cuts without too much hassle. The uniformity of the product made for an excellent substrate, one devoid of irregularities. All in all, the installation was a breeze. Other than my assistant (bless'm) forgetting to shut one bedroom window, which resulted in some square footage being soaked by an overnight squall, all went without a hitch (fortunately had enough flooring remaining to replace the damage. Bamboo just don't much like water).Would I use the stuff again? Definitely. Any complaints? Zero. Would I recommend the product? Absolutely, given that it was one proper for the application.

This stuff is awesome!
I love it. It lays flat, nicely and easily, and one just has to line-up the edges and use the attached double-sided tape to secure one row/run of this pad to the next row. Easy as that, and the final install does provide some comfort or passing, plus decent sound insulation. I am not an Installer or Contractor and therefore I am not able to compare-and-contrast this product to others that are available. All I can say is that this stuff was far better than a clear plastic product I used in another room (the other stuff came in a roll from one of the big-box stores). Now, let's talk about the ability to cut/trim this product, because you will read other reviews where people complained about the ability to cut it. Here is my experience - if you lay this out and you need to trim around a wall, for example, you might be tempted to pull out a utility knife and cut along the edge of the wall. That makes perfect sense. But, even with a new blade in my utility knife, I could not get an easy and clean sharp cut, especially in the green plastic coating/covering. BUT...I used a fairly standard pair of scissors (decent scissors!) and it cut nicely and with a clean line. It was not hard to cut with scissors, but my utility knife did not work as well. No big deal to me. I will certainly consider this product again for any future flooring.

Brilliant stuff! Very pleased with Product.
I bought 800 sqft, two rolls big and heavy, but that's what I expected. Rolled one out after taking measure measurements, perfect straight along both edges, so measuring and marking for cuts was fine. This underlay is heavy duty and you should purchase a nice set of fisk scissors for the task, otherwise you may struggle with a craft knife (stanley) or other scissors. The underlay stays put when down which was a huge help, as I was covering quite a space, just have to adjust at times so it was snug in corner etc. They're not kidding about sound reduction and absorbing, I wear size 15 boots and you could hardly hear it when walking on the laminate later.Joining the strips together was a breeze and if you make an error overlapping the lip to the sticky strip, it's easily lifted and adjusted, just don't press too hard when first marrying the two together.Would I recommend this product? 100% I would, doesn't tear, have bumps or move when cutting, excellent padding for a great price.I do hope this helps you choose what is appropriate for your particular job or DIY. I will post some pics, they're on my tablet later today. =)

Thick, good price for a good product, quick shipping. Hard to cut!
Pros:1. Great sound protection (the laminate I put down doesn't sound hollow)2. Thick3. Good features for the price4. Easy to roll out and lay downCons:1. Difficult to cut. I used multiple different tools to try cutting this stuff. I used different types of scissors, exacto knives and a box cutter. The easiest thing I found to use was a box cutter on cement, with a straight edge. The box cutter was best, because you can break off, to new blades easily, as they dull very quickly.I'm glad I decided to go with this product and will use it again if I put laminate in other rooms.
