Great bicycle that opens a world of options
I recently purchased this bicycle for my wife after she had taken my 15 year old Dahon and would not give back to me. The Mariner D8 is a lightweight, solid bicycle that folds down to a reasonably small package, making it a great commuter bicycle. In addition, the fenders do a good job of keeping the mud streaks off of clothing and gear. The gear ratio settings are about right, allowing for relatively steep grades to be climbed despite having a single chain ring in the front. The bike tops out at around 25 mph with respect to gearing, but 30 mph can be achieved going downhill. The 20" wheels are large enough to avoid flipping or getting caught in potholes, while still being small enough for the bike to fold into a tight enough package for traveling. The fold down handlebar stem is much improved over my older generation of Dahon. The Mariner D8 has also proven to have the same dependable reliability and high quality I have come to expect from Dahon. I have looked at Brompton's and they are nice bikes, but it is hard to justify double the price difference for something that is of equal performance. Kudos to Dahon for making great bicycles and continuing to iterate on solid engineering and building on quality.

Awesome upgrade from the MU D8. Great bike
My wife has had a Dahon D8 for a few years. I sold my mountain bike for the convenience of putting them in the car and ride on some bike paths. The Mariner, of course is more expensive. IMO, worth it. I like the style a bit better, and there’s a few upgraded components.I love the back rack - bought a hard case for it and now the lock, pump and whatever else is put there.I highly recommend this bike. And for those complaining they come with flat tires. Yes, you need to fill them up.

Not so rust resistant
Ive had 2 of these. The second one was stolen and I can't remember what happened to the first one.If this bike is supposed to be rust resistant I can't imagine how one that isn't would survive a marine environment. But for half the money, I'm going to find out. The chaind, pedals, seat, gears, and more constantly rusted and needed constant care.Other than that I loved it. 5 stars for usability. 1 star for rust resistance.UPDATEAfter exchanging several emails back and forth about the corrosion I had on my Mariner, I would not recommend this or any Dahon bike. Maybe that's an overreaction because the bike is well made, (although not at all salt environment resistant) I felt that they are deceptive in naming this model and avoiding being straight with me when I asked what the difference was that made it a Mariner edition. Not a good exchange.

Reasonable bike for price. Not quite so easy to fold and store as a Brompton
One of the bolts was missing as the box was damaged. Otherwise arrived in good condition

I liked being able to adjust the seat as well as the handle bars. Nice riding bike

Do Not Buy From Focus Camera LLC!
Bike arrived with a small broken part. Contacted seller and was told to contact the manufacturer. (Offered me $19 off the $1k bike). Really? Poorest customer service I've been subjected to ever. I just want the part. I contacted Dahon via the online form a week ago. No response. I was able to find a number and called. Was told to send an email to rep and he will send the replacement. I'll update this review if/when I get the part...or don't.

Not so rust resistant
I love my bike! I can fit it in a regular 28" suitcase and safely transport it by plane. The only downside is that even when it's advertised to be corrosion resistant (they say that's why it's called Mariner), I'm finding several rusting points after only a couple of weeks.
