The description says this is 17" long. Is it? Two other brands of canvas rigger bags said they were 15" long and they are not... they are 12" long.

Yes it is. I carry a 16" combination square as part of my kit, and it fits inside. I just bought a new one to replace one that I've used for almost 20 years

This tool bag does not have a zipper. It is made from a very heavy canvas and has shown to be very strong and durable.

is this 2018 model actual canvas only, or plastic lined?

This is a triple layer of 24oz canvas and the interior is lined with with a liquid PVC which makes is easy to wipe out.
