Many years ago, a contractor tapped the post of my chain link fence gate with his truck, which widened the space between the two swinging gates about two inches. That rendered the standard, rounded latch unreliable, so I started using a U-lock to connect the gates. Two dogs later, I adopted an escape artist who figured out he could shimmy his 65# frame between the gates once he shook them enough to disengage the latch. I got tired of rigging things to keep Cowboy safely inside the fence and went on a search for a modified latch. Expectations were low, as I'd done the same thing years ago and found nothing.This latch is miraculous! Because the edges are squared, rather than rounded, and tuck snugly into channels on the opposite side of the gate, the gate doesn't budge at all once it's secured. It's heavy, too, and I'm confident it will be functioning long after I leave this mortal coil. There are holes on both sides, as well, so I can lock the gate from the inside or outside with a standard padlock. Installation was pretty easy. Drilling holes in the vertical parts of the gate was the hardest part, requiring a little patience, but the results are well worth it. I'd recommend this latch to anyone looking for a permanent solution to a nagging gate problem. Now I can protect Cowboy from the world and the world from Cowboy.

I've tried several others and they failed. This one is perfect. It is sturdy, easy to install, durable. It is everything I wanted. I bought two initially and just bought two more.

Exactly what I needed to keep my two free swinging gates securely closed together. Installation was cake.

Moved into a new house with a chain link fenced back yard, fence had seen some better days, and my 10 lb. chihuahua figured out she could open the gate herself. So purchased this, definite upgrade over the old latch, installation went fine with a little know how and some tools. You're going to need some sockets, a set tap and a drill to install it. Would also recommend you use better machine screws over the tap screws that came with the package. Not sure how this will stand up over time, it's not plain galvanized steel, seems to be just painted silver, so time will tell.

We installed two 12 foot tubular ranch type gates across a private driveway. We didn’t want to use drop rods on the gate so this gate latch was our solution. This latch is very sturdy and works well for us!

We were having an issue with the homeless population in our beach area constantly going through our recycle bins and trash bins. We do understand that certain things happen and that is why people we through the trash cans. But it was getting real bad. They would fight over the trash cans. It got so bad that they were setting the cans on fire to keep others out.The latch that was on our dual-gate would not stay closed. This allowed easy access. I saw this latch and jumped at it. I’m glad I did because it works fantastically. Keeps the gates closed with no possible way to get into the trash area.Highly recommend.

Gate latch was well made and heavy duty for residential application. I was pleasantly surprised upon receiving it.Welds are good and appears that it will stand up for years to come.
