A must have accessory!
I had some yard lights installed in my back yard a while ago. The plan was to have them be photo cell controlled. I purchased the lamps and poles locally. At the time the only poles available didn’t have the photo cells or accessory outlet. The electrician installed the poles and lamps with a switch inside the house. But I still wanted the photo cell set up, so I searched and found these outlets and photo cells to go with them. When they arrived I was impressed that they looked and felt exactly like the ones at the retail lamp store. They could all be made by the same factory as far as I can tell.I had the electrician come back to install the outlets and photocells. They were done in a surprisingly short time. If I had the proper sized sized hole saw it would have been an easy Saturday project. I’m sure with the instructions provided, the hole saw, and some basic, electrical safety, any homeowner could install these. The finished product is identical to the retail store poles with the photo cell and outlets installed. An added bonus is the cost was less, although I did have to wait a few days before the project was finished. The product is waterproof and sturdy, and exactly like the retailer has. If your lamp doesn’t have this outlet, you can have it installed, or if you are handy, do it yourself. You will be pleased with this product and especially the convenience.

Does job, but...
Bought this to add to light pole so could install surveillance cam. Ended up having to also purchase a second weatherproof power housing because power supply for cam would not fit under the cap on this covered outlet. Orientation of the outlet not favorable to the wall-mount supply. At least this outlet protects the additional supply housing. Installation was OK, just functionality wasn't there as hoped, requiring expensive and awkward fix... Otherwise, works as should.

It comes with 6-32 screws, so plan for mounting
The unit is fine, sturdy enough, gasketed and weatherproof short of a hurricane. The receptacle and plug are shielded in use, the plug goes in vertically, then the spring loaded cover closes over the plug. It comes with two 6-32 non-self-tapping screws, so if you're installing on a new post, you'll either have to tap the mounting holes with a tapping die, or get some self-tapping 6-32 screws (inexpensive, but can be tricky to find) My installation was on a new Solus brand post that came pre-drilled with the proper location, but not tapped (threaded).

Complete and designed well
I used this to replace the existing AC outlet that finally became corroded after this year’s irrigation watering. This design covers the plug and feeds our down vertically. Very happy with install but wire nuts should be larger. Used my own.

Great value — good design fills a void in post rcpt market
Single TR receptacle in wet-while-in-use listed cover. It is not GFCI so plan to upgrade the branch ckt breaker to dual function ($75 part and qualified electrical technician), or a GFCI device installed ahead of the post receptacle in the branch circuit (DIY with some care, post installed on the ‘load’ terminals of your gfci device). The rcpt points straight down, so it’s a bit awkward to access and you’ll want to install it as high off the ground as may be feasible or aesthetically acceptable, so you can get your eyes below looking up the first time you plug into it. But this is GOOD design, allowing for a tidy low profile cover that coordinates well to standard 3” diameter garden style outdoor lamp post.

Fragile plastic
It is made of plastic, it will break down in UV sunlight & is fragile. Although the shape / design is great. And, It does solve the problem of easily adding an outlet onto a post. It will require periodic replacing- maint checks, approx every 5~7 years. It is made of plastic ( albeit a descent resin, it will break down in UV sunlight & is fragile. ( i.e a weed wacker bumping against it will create a crack ). If only it was made of Aluminum. So, I will clone the design in china/produce an aluminum version/ distribute on ebay & amazon. that is what I do. Thanks for the idea!

Easy to Install and Waterproof
This was easy to install on a 3" aluminum light post. The foam gasket seals nicely against the light post and the waterproof in-use cover is well constructed.Pros:-The spring-loaded cover is very strong and stays in the closed position during heavy winds.-The receptacle is oriented facing down, giving extra protection against water intrusion.-Overall, durable construction and simple install.Cons:-Aluminum stranded wire is included instead of standard solid copper.-Tamper-Resistant receptacle is difficult to plug devices into the first few times.

Great until it melts
Worked fine from January to June 2023 when it melted. The same 15A 3 way splitter was plugged into it the whole time and it appeared to still be plugged all the way in when it melted. Off of the 3 way splitter, I had 4 Wyze security cams (pulling way less than 1amp combined) and a battery charger/converter (pulling up to 4amp at max). Nothing else on the same breaker had any issues (breaker didn't even trip). It's a weatherproof outlet but it hadn't rained in weeks. Shouldn't have been any problem at all. Must have been a defective plug and replaced under warranty, right? I can't get any sort of response from the manufacturer so I don't know.
