This book is the best on the subject of ancient fashions I have managed to peel from the kindle store.The author spent much time figuring out how and why garments were made and draped around the body. I was amazed to see how primitive clothing was in ancient times (right up till the Roman Empire). In most cultures the main garment basically was no more than a sheet.The book also talks about the use of jewelry, and about the way cultures of the Ancient Middle East interacted (as far as fashion is concerned). It also looks at the reason why certain dressing habits developed (such as pants in Persia).I think this book is a must for any author and/or film director indulging in historical fiction beyond the Roman Empire.

One of the only sources I could find for early Persian clothing. Thank goodness for this source!

I like how it dives down into Egyptian different classes with illustration how to recreate the clothings. I just wished it did the same with other civilizations especially Persians. I started get into recreating Historical clothing and i wanted to find a book that illustrated Ancient Persia’s clothing customs. Overall, I'm happy with my purchase.

We never went into the fashions or costumes of the ancient civilizations we had to study. If we had understood just how much work went into making this stuff, we'd appreciate the clothing we have more.

There are so many "copies" of this old book that may mislead the interested reader. Written in 1920 with lot of illustrations, it is available online for FREE. All you have to do is to search "Ancient Egyptian, Assyrian and Persian Costumes" PDF on Google and download it if you need it for a research. It is however interesting how different publishers try to fool readers to think it is a new book and to sell it for a relatively high price without even allowing the readers to look inside the book (aside from few selected pages at most). The stars is for the value of the book and not the market scavengers.

Très bon livre, très intéressant! Les livres de cette collection ne m'ont jamais déçue. Les "initiés" pourront reconnaître certaines illustrations.
