Just a great book for teaching/ reinforcing the silent e rule.Must have- great value.Highly recommend

My daughter will be 4 years old next week. She and I have been happily reading this book about "silent e" for several months now. We enjoy the DVD "Code Word Caper" from Leap Frog, that also presents the "silent e." We have starting on her learning to read, and she knows the sounds that each letter "makes." This book will help her remember that the vowel letters can also "say their name."In addition to simply reading this book with her, I often put my thumb over the "silent e" and read the word that remains. That is, after reading each two-page spread (e.g. " ... kit ... kite"), I put my thumb over the "e" in "kite" and say "kit," remove the thumb and say "kite," put the thumb over the "e" again and say "kit," and take off my thumb and say "kite."

I think it’s a great book to teach children how to read. My daughter and son had it and now my granddaughter. Love it!!!

Love this book! My daughter has already been introduced to the concept of the silent e. This story just reinforces what she knows, but in a cute way

米国の現地児童向けleveled readerです。フォニックス学習用の１冊という位置づけで、マジックe とか サイレントe と呼ばれる最後に-eのつく単語を取り扱っています。At the end of words,"e" makes no sound.But Silent e changessounds around.こんな表現で-eを説明し、ライミングを大切にしながら、実例をいくつかあげています。フォニックスで-eを扱う時にこの本の読み聞かせをすると、-eの役割が、生徒の記憶に残るのではないかと思います。

Good reading books although this particular one is slightly more educational than funny

スペリングの勉強をまださせてない息子に購入したため、ちんぷんかんぷんでした。スペリングの勉強を始めた子供には適していると思います。

５歳の娘、内容をよく分かっている訳ではないですが、何だか楽しいようです。Tシャツの「e」が、他の単語にくっつくところが面白いのかな？自分から「読んで〜」と持ってきて、楽しんで聞いてくれるだけで充分ですので満足です。もう少し大きくなったら、「e」の仕組みについて、ちゃんと説明してあげたいです。

最近6歳の息子にフォニックスをちゃんと教え始めました。その為に買った　TWIN　SISTERSのＰＨＯＮＩＣＳのＣＤのなかにThe Silent"e"という曲がありこの本に惹かれました。歌の内容とこの本はちゃんとリンクしておりとても理解しやすかったです。たとえば女の子がKitの前に座っているとeのTシャツを着た男の子がやって来てKiteを作るという展開です。このTシャツを着て単語の後ろにくっつくと最初の単語と違う意味の単語になりいろんな単語があらわれるというのは子供にも絵で見てわかりやすかったようです。英語をやっていても年長児にはもちろん読めないので私が読んであげています。STEP 2は英語圏の小学校低学年用なので日本の子供ならば中学生、高校生、大人でやり直し英語を始めた人が読むのに丁度いいですね。お子さんが文字に興味を持ち始めて単語を書き始めていたらeがつくと何になるということと音が消えるのを理解するのに最適です。
