Starck's Prayer Book: Concordia Edition

Published by CPH but purchased through Amazon, very pleased with the quality and content of this (Lutheran/topical) Stark's Prayer Book; hard cover, revised Concordia edition. Includes ribbon marker. Have used it frequently since our purchase date. Thankful to have this collection for our family, as often our own words do not suffice...Update 4/1/2016 --I had purchased another Starck's as a Christmas gift for a dear Christian friend and her family. A couple months later, she expressed what a blessing these prayers had been to them. However --many of the pages within referred to the comfort given to us in our Baptism. What's all this talk of baptism?! Jump forward less than two years: These folks have since become confessional Lutherans (and Patrick & Summer if you are reading this, yes I'm talking about YOU). Their now-teens were brought to the Font, and I am still overwhelmed with joy and honor to call them my Godchildren! Nothing, nothing more precious than that we together share in the Supper.Nah, not because of this little book. Cool, true story nonetheless. 'Thought I'd share since I'm up at 3am with insomnia. Perhaps I should crack the spine of my own copy.

This is a wonderful resource for one's own devotional life. Starcks's prayers are weighty prayers that cut to the heart and soul, and they teach how to pray to the Holy Trinity. These have helped me immensely when I have times where I can't pray or can't seem to find the right words. Starck teaches that spirituality is found in the struggles and sufferings and where to turn in the midst of the seasons of life that we all face. So whether you're struggling and hurting, or you are in a season of joy and relative calm, this devotional resource helps give voice to the soul as it addresses its Creator, Redeemer and Sanctifier.

Highly recommended!Prayers for all occasions with Gospel citations and hymn lyrics blended into the text.Apparently this has been a staple item of many confessional Lutherans for years and quite well known for it's pietistic character throughout the world.We have used Starck's prayers in our family devotions for some time and have been profoundly blessed by them.This Concordia edition is nicely presented with a solid binding and a ribbon-marker.Any Christian will be greatly edified by this classic.May God bless you.

This prayer book has pulled and still is pulling me deeper into my relationship with God. The prayers are deeper than I would pray and they are more focused on important things that I seemingly forgot. This book is a blessing to me and I hope that it will be a blessing to you as well.

This book is not a quick prayer and your done for the day.The prayers are deep and insightful and makes you think about what you are really praying for.Really enjoy the daily devotions and the hymns.
