Circle for Hekate - Volume I: History & Mythology (Circle for Hekate Project)

D'Este has done it again, producing a delightfully readable academic text that answered every question I had about Hecate, her places of worship, her lineage and relationship to other Gods (particularly the Olympians), and when she was most popular in history. Unfortunately, we don't have as much information, particularly from the Bronze Age and earlier, but I appreciated that D'Este was honest about what was unknown, and presented the research transparently.This book was exceedingly well-researched, with over 400 footnotes and dozens of sources, and most impressively, she actually visited the locations of temples around the world. I also appreciated how many pictures she included, too often writers describe without showing, and mentioning statues makes you want to see them! I love that she included pictures. It is the last book you'll need on Hecate from a historical perspective, but it will make you want to read the source texts!

Sorita NEVER fails to impress and inform. Her works on Hekate are just *pure* gold and invaluable. If you have any interest at all in Hekate, Sorita’s books are absolutely THE BEST for those in the neo-pagan/polytheist/Hellenic/magickal community. An excellent author, great researcher, true priestess and overall fantastic person.

This book was delivered on time and in perfect condition. Since I am “into” the Greek pantheon, this work appealed to me right off the rip. The author put a great deal of effort into research for this book. It is everything I expected and more. Would recommend it to others.

With footnotes, images and full bibliography, this is a well researched volume, and not just another “spell book.” Highly recommend for anyone wishing to know about Hekate, especially in a historical context. I look forward to the next volumes. You’ll be inspired towards your own interpretations.

I love this book! It came highly recommend from multiple people, and I would definitely recommend this to anyone. I will definitely be reading more from this author.

Thoroughly researched and yet entirely accessible look into the historical depictions and veneration of Hekate. It's an invaluable resource for any Hecatean devotee, or simply anyone interested in this fascinating goddess/Titan of liminality.

There were many things I learned in this book. Such an interesting read on her history and the way many cultures perceived Hekate.

This book is the best book on Hekate I have ever read. There are so many out there peddling complete tripe and nonsense. Sorita D'Este has seriously done her research and if you want one well researched and informative book on Hekate - this is the one! Love it.

This book has a LOT of research about Hekate and her worship in Ancient Greece. It covers the cultural, anthropological, archeological, architectural and linguistic facets of the Hekate cult. There are lots of images of the various archetypes found in those sites as well. So in terms of the information you get - it’s phenomenal.But the editing is very poor. There are too many spelling and grammar mistakes in this one. And it hurts readability.This book does not cover the myths of Hekate and instead focuses on only the ethnographic reality of the practices surrounding her. So it’s not a book for beginners, rather for people who already know about Hekate and want to learn more.This is the first in the series of three books on Hekate worship.

Amazing information about a beautiful but often obscure or misrepresented goddess. Wonderfully researched and easy to gain insight from. Would deff recommend to anyone interested in learning more about Hecate!
