Unit acceptable, but Danby Customer Service not so much
We purchased this unit from Amazon.com on June 23rd. Delivery went well, but when we unpacked the unit we discovered we were missing one of the "feet" that help balance the unit. The unit had both a left and right hinge (to allow door reversal) and each hinge had a foot that screwed into it. But there was no spare foot with a screw to allow you to install it separately in order to balance the unit. We called Danby, but their Customer service department closed at 4pm Eastern and it was Friday (of a long weekend). We sent them an e-mail explaining the situation. We called Amazon.com and their Customer Service was wonderful. Although they could not help us, they reimbursed us $100 off the purchase price, told us they would reimburse us if we purchased a spare foot online and stated that if Danby refused to help us, they would pick the unit up free of charge and reimburse us for the unit. We were able to find the part through Sears online and ordered it. It is now installed and the fridge works great. As for Danby, they responded to our e-mail, but still have not seemed to "get it" that we did not receive a spare "fixed foot" as they call it. I finally responded that I was able to get the part online through Sears and the unit is now operational. I don't know if I will hear from them again. One more thing about Danby though...When I tried to register the unit on their website, I could not because they did not recognize the model number (which is written right on my owners manual). They have another site to register the product on (profileofgoodtaste.com), but you have to live in Canada to register on that site (province is mandatory and they don't have States, only provinces). Now for the actual product review:Knowing some of the other reviews regarding temperature variability, we placed a thermometer in the unit first on the bottom shelf and then on the top shelf. The digital temperature reading on the unit was consistent with the temperature at the bottom of the unit. The temperature at the top was slightly warmer, which would be expected since heat rises. This is fine since it allows us to store our red wine on the top shelves and our whites on the bottom. The coils are on the back of the unit, so you need to allow it sufficient space away from the wall to allow proper ventilation. If you don't allow it sufficient space, you may have an issue with the temperature. This is true for any refrigerator with coils on the back.We can comfortably fit six regular size bottles per shelf, more if they are half bottles (dessert wines), allowing us to store at least 66 normal size bottles. The bottom shelf is not as deep, so you need to strategically place the bottles based on how tall they are. The manual actually contains a picture showing the placement configuration to store between 65 and 75 bottles.I am giving this a 4-star and not 5-star due to Danby's Customer Service and due to the fact that they don't recognize the Model number (or my State), resulting in my not being able to register the product online. Amazon's great Customer Service and willingness to work with me made up for Danby's poor Customer Service. I would definitely purchase from Amazon again, but not sure about Danby. If you end up purchasing the unit and are missing the second "foot", it is available through Sears Online for about $3.50 plus shipping. We could not find it anywhere else, including Amazon.com, Lowe's, Home Depot, or other appliance stores, but someone else may be luckier than we were depending on your location. Who knows, Danby may actually include one in their next shipment.

Great unit and value for entry level...
After looking at units ranging from $3000 to $700, I decided to get this one as an entry level wine cooler for my wine stock at home. The unit arrived in perfect condition and after removing the extra door hinge on the front (which you can miss if you don't read the instructions) it works great. As other has mentioned; the digital temperature is not entirely accurate so it is best to use a digital thermometer to see how close your unit is. I have found that mine is roughly off 8 degrees at the top; and 6 degrees at the bottom so I keep my setting at 47 degrees to keep the cooler between 53-55 degrees for the red wine I store. While I do keep it in the garage, I am pleased with how quiet it is when compared to the refrigerator next to it. All-in-all, happy with the purchase, quality, value, and performance after understanding the characteristics. If the temperature range had not been off by so much, I would have given it 5 stars.

So far, so good - but just a few considerations
We have had our wine cooler for a few months, and it's working fine. I don't find it to be too loud like what other reviewers are stating - but we have heard what I think is the bottles vibrating when the condenser kicks on, which can be resolved by leveling the unit. The manufacturer recommends that you NOT use an extension cord for plugging it in, and the cord is only about 5 feet. The glass does not appear to be tempered so we may buy something to cover it in. I also did notice a jump in my electric bill despite it saying it is economical and efficient. Although it is positioned near a window and a heat source, so maybe there are more external variances that are causing it to kick on more to compensate. We just finished having work done in the basement, so are now going to move the cooler down there, which is dark, and the temperature is more even, so maybe that will help.

I'm pleased with it ...
I am pleased with this wine cooler. My collection had grown to the point where I needed somewhere temp regulated to store my wine.PROS* As mentioned by others, the unit is very nice looking; especially with the wooden shelves.* Freestanding with rollers on the back to make it easy to move if needed* Door is very solid and seals well with the magnetic stripCONS* Noisy ... I was planning on putting this unit in the garage anyway but if you are thinking about putting in the house, might want to reconsider.* The spacing between the rows of bottles is very VERY tight. Couple this with the fact that the shelves do not slide out and you have a difficult time seeing what is on each row. I ended up buying bottle tags.* I've not had the problem of the temp setting resetting itself on power loss but if that would happen, that would suck.

Great Entry Level Wine Cooler with Nice Capacity
The cooler arrived on time and was easy to install. Basically, all we had to do was unbox it and plug it in.This model has an adjustable door - so it can swing from the left or right which is really nice depending on your space. The wooden racks are exactly what we were looking for and give the cooler a nice appearance. The unit seems to hold temperature well and is relatively quite. The compressor does come on from time to time, but it is fairly unobtrusive (particularly after reading the reviews of some of the other models).Overall, a great wine cooler for the price. I'd happily recommend to others that are looking for basic, high capacity wine cooler.PROS: easy installation (unbox and plug-in), reversible door, nice wooden racks, LED light, casters on the bottom of the unit make it easy to move, fairly quite (compressor noise is not too loud)CONS: wooden racks are spaced a bit tight (but definitely manageable), the look of the unit isn't high end (black sides and faux stainless steel finish on front)
