Yes it does. It has a hot & warm switch setting. As well as a high & low & off switch.

How hot does this get? I've a close pixie cut?

There’s a high n low setting. It gets hot but I wear a wrap and that works. I have a pixie cut also. This is perfect for hair drying fast!!

is this hair dryer quiet

It's not as loud as a hair dryer. But while drying my hair, I do have to turn the TV volume up 1 or 2 decibels to compensate for the dryer noise.
