Q: I have a loft and I am looking for something that will keep my new kitten out of that area (big drop). Is this sturdy on carpet?

It's only really sturdy on carpet if you have it accordioned properly - if you need the full 70 inches of width to barricade something, I wouldn't recommend it. I have mine on a wood floor and generally get about 65" width out of it, but on carpet I wouldn't try for more than 60" (you need the stability of the "v" shape to keep it standing). For a kitten, I don't think you'd have to worry too much about them knocking it over by batting at it, but if they try to climb it, it might fall. It's definitely climbable by a kitten on the front side. The "screen" portion (not the wood overlay with triangle/rhomboid shapes, but what's laying behind them) is a sturdy paper-like material that cat claws could theoretically penetrate. Q: What are the dimentions when it's all stretched out (in feet please). The question search is giving me mixed answers?

Mine is 69” wide and 70” tall

Q: Can you repair tears in the screen?

If no fabric is missing, use a bit of white wood glue to close the tear. Just pat a little on with your fingertip and bring the edges of the tear together until they stick.
