SUNDOLPHIN Sun Dolphin Aruba SS 8-Foot Sit-in Kayak

I've been using this kayak weekly since April 2017. I love it! I'm a poor grad student so this was all I could afford, but it's flipping fantastic. I weigh about 165 lbs. and it still sits 6-8" above the water. It's a bit tipsy, but nothing you can't get used to. It's so light I don't even have to drop it off at the boat ramp, I can easily carry it from my car. Pro tip: use a gardening foam kneepad as a seat cushion, it's way more comfy. The tracking isn't great, but the real question is: can you have awesome adventures for this super cheap price? Yes. Hell yes. I'm including some of my favorite pics here. I use it on calm lakes and slow moving streams. I would definitely not use it in waves more than 1 ft. This purchase has completely re-defined how I interact with nature in my town. It's easily the best purchase I've made in the last 5 years. I can't recommend it highly enough for those empty-pocketed souls who crave the water. Will I eventually upgrade to a fancy fiberglass, streamlined 14 footer? Of course. But until I have the cash to toss into a fancy kayak and kayak carrier, I will happily travel all the lakes and reservoirs I can find with this little beast. Kayaking doesn't have to be for the wealthy. You can afford this.

Perfect first kayak! I tried one of these last summer with a friend and fell in love with how easy it was to handle by myself. Super easy to get in and out of the bed of my truck, which is a huge plus. Nicely built and fairly comfortable (we were out for about 3 hours). May end up buying a second one so that I can have a spare if family or friends ever want to go kayaking with me.

the purpose of this purchase was to allow me the ability to load and unload my kayak without assistance. The Sun Dolphin fit this requirement perfectly. So its not the same as our other kayaks but I knew that going in. Some of edges were a bit rough but I sanded those and now its fine. Considering the cost I believe i have a very good value. Is it perfect and strong as a $700 kayak? No but your not spending $700.

Were it possible to award zero stars I would do so. This kayak is useless for two reasons 1) The sides are too high making paddling awkward and 2) the kayak is unstable and feels as though tipping over into the water is a distinct possibility. DON"T WASTE YOUR MONEY ON THIS PIECE OF JUNK!!!

Bought it because it's the lightest i can find. Read the comments that it's not stable. Both are very true, so buy it or not really depends on your priority. If you value portability then it's for you. But if ultimate stability/maneuverability is what you are after, no.

Great kayak for tweens and beginners. Easy to maneuver. Good basic kayak

This was a terrible kayak, extremely unbalanced. I couldn't comfortably paddle without feeling like it was going to tip over. I feel like it was the way the seat was constructed.

Perfect size for myself being a shorter person. Easy to travel with. Not heavy to haul. I only wish it had a better bottle/beverage holder as the. One included is in a horrible location and my water bottle is constantly rolling around unsecured inside my kayak.

Delivery was pretty quick. It looks cool and cannot wait to test it on yhe Thames 😊
