Stabilicers Traction Cleats are great!
I bought these Stabilicers Lite Duty Serious Traction Cleats a while ago, but didn't review them until just now because yesterday was the first chance that I had to actually try them out. We got quite a bit of snow in Indiana this past week and a half, most of which has not yet melted and with driving the car over the snowy driveway along with melting and refreezing, quite a bit of dangerous ice has resulted. Yesterday I had to take the garbage out to the street, and fearful of a fall I decided to try out this product. They were easy to put on, at least while sitting in a car. I walked first on the snowy, less icy surface to test them out. Then I became more daring and walked intentionally on obviously dangerous packed ice. There was no tendency to slip, and when I planted my feet and tried to slip my feet would not move. The metal cleats dug firmly into the ice, as further evidenced by the marks left in the hard ice. And half of the cleats are oriented 90 degrees to the other cleats, providing stabilization in all directions. I was able to walk indoors on a concrete garage floor without any problems; I would think they would damage linoleum or other indoor surfaces. No problems stepping in car or driving even with these on.

Unlikely to buy again
Most people are complaining about size specs. I won't here, they fit fine. Function is my concern.Pros:Superb grip. These really grip ice nicely and the metal cleats are buried in so much rubber they won't pop out any time soon. I can't speak to longevity of the rubber yet. What I don't like:Very loud. These sound like walking in tap shoes. They really are too loud and much louder than some more minimal cleats I was using last year. What I really don't like:Throw off gait terribly. On dry pavement (not everything is ice) or tiles or whatever, you'll be fully 1/2" higher. Even on slushy stuff the thick meat of the rubber is 1/4". But that's not the real problem: the real problem is the contact points are fairly small and quite narrow. Also the rear one is not a heel gripper--instead it sits to the rear of my arch. As such the weight of my foot doesn't come down on my heel but rather on the arch, which is terrible and it actually starts flaring up plantar fasciitis almost immediately.I dumped last years minimal cleats (due north ones) because they died fast, but they were fairly quiet and they barely influenced gait. These mess it up hugely. I'll try yaktrax next.I'll keep these stabilicers only for going back and forth to the car in the winter at work. I'd never take them on an actual walk, as they feel almost like using stilts.

Worth Their Weight In Gold
We've had storm after storm in the past weeks, including a lot of freezing rain and ice, and I've had LOTS of chances to give these a workout.I can safely say that these are far superior to the YakTrax (and I've worn YakTrax for years). The STABILicers are extremely sturdily built with very thick, tough rubber, and the cleats are molded out of thick heavy duty metal plates that are embedded into the rubber soles. No popped cleats on these bad boys!I have walked extensively on ice, snow, macadam, wood, and concrete wearing these during the past several weeks and there is zero sign of wear on the cleat tips.I wouldn't recommend doing too much walking around indoors with these on.Outdoors, however, is a different story. These things are AMAZING! I can walk from my house to my parents' house on a solid sheet of glass-like black ice and not even know it. I don't have to alter my walk or speed in any way. With my YakTrax, I always felt like I had to "make fists with my toes" inside my shoes and walk more slowly to be sure the coiled wire was biting into the ice. With the STABILicers, I just walk completely normally and at full speed. I have purposely tried to slip and slide on various patches of ice and cannot even make them budge. These things really dig in and stabilize your stance. I think part of it is due to the fact that the rows of cleats point in various directions. They do a fabulous job on snow, too, and I've done a heap of shoveling lately and have given them quite a workout. The same is true when I walk on my wooden ramp and deck. Just like bridges, it "freezes before road surface," and is always the first thing to freeze up, the last thing to unfreeze, and is wicked slick. No problemo. Can't even force a slip or slide. These do leave small pinpoint cleat impressions in the wood, however.I've walked up to the front of our development to get mail and then back again in these quite a few times now, which is about a quarter mile walk, most of the trip being on non-icy macadam after the plow guys have been through the neighborhood, and no sign of wear or tear on the cleats. The walk, though a bit awkward on cleats, is easy enough to do, and no problems with balance. These come in a few colors -- mine are blue so they'll be easy to find in snow if I walk out of them. However, I've had no issues in that regard. They fit snug and have shown no sign of being loose or coming off.Size-wise I would suggest that you get larger than you need in order to give some leeway to fit over your shoes or boots. I have small feet (8.5) and purchased size large and they fit over top of my old beat-up pair of Kuru shoes perfectly. I use that pair for outdoor work exclusively and so I just leave the STABILicers on the shoes all winter, but they're easy to get on and off, and stay put nicely. If you live in snowy/icy environs, which includes just about everybody lately, these things are worth their weight in gold. They make walking on snow and ice a non-issue.Recommended!
