Easy to use and fantastic quality
For some reason I left the high end printer world and used cheap inkjets for a few years, after three of them died on me I understood you get what you pay for. This is a super quiet, high quality printer/scanner/copier/fax. One color, black, and that is all you really need 99% of the time. I love this printer and the toner get months of daily printing from a toner cartridge. Never going back to the cheapo printers again!

Good, solid device with some very bad flaws.
I had a Brother MFC-7220 printer for some nine years and it had heavy use. Looking at multi-function printers, it was hard to decide. I finally ordered one that looked good, but when it came not only was the outer shell flimsy plastic, but the so-called setup instructions had only pictures with one word in several languages. It was impossible to set up as the pictures were not the same as the machine. Had to send it back, so then woke up and searched for Brother printers. This one looks very much like my old one. I especially liked the Fax. Scan and Copy buttons instead of having to do everything from the computer. It is a good solid machine and has one feature the old dd not, a glass platen as well as a paper feeder. One thing I appreciated that seldom see anymore is an actual 64-page printed User Guide..The toner cartridge that comes with it does not print anywhere nearly the number of sheets the old one did, and is pretty costly to replace. However not as bad as inkjet cartridges these days. One thing I don't like is the feature to print one sheet or an envelope. The old one let me feed it right in the front and it came out the same place a printed sheet does. This one makes you go behind the printer, open a cover, pull down a couple of plastic things, and only then can you go back to the front and feed in the envelope. Then you have to repeat the process to close it down.Excepting the Copy button, which you press after putting the original in, all you have to do is pick the number of sheets and hit Start. This is like the old machine. The instructions for scanning is much more complicated unlike the old one where all you had to do is hit a button. Faxing is extregmely complicated and difficult to do, way more steps than an Epson ink-jet printer I use. It also has a PC Fax, which is lacking on many printers so you don't even need to print out a document and place it in the feeder. Just write and send like printing. The absolutely worst feature, and it is awful, almost useless, is the tiny screen that is not even back lighted. The type is way to small and extremely difficult to read without a flash light and a magnifying glass. It is up high, sol if on a desk such as mine, I have to stand up, lean over, and holding the two above thnngs, that does not leave me a hand to hit the buttons. This is ridiculous on a good machine like this and was tempted to give it only three stars. This screen itself is minus five stars and is one of the worst I have ever seen on any device. This good machine is completely spoiled by this tiny screen which for somebody with poor eyesight is next to useless.Still, the printer is much better than many other machines I looked at, most of which were a lot more expensive.

It’s not a color printer and wi-fi not that user friendly
Misleading and not clear on being a black and white printer and using wi-fi ,to print from mobile devices not very user friendly

This thing is an outdated piece of crap with a godawful interface
Good luck trying to navigate the ancient software bundled with this printer or the terrible user interface on the front panel. It jams frequently and has completely inscrutable menus that beep at you in annoyance rather than direct you to do what you want. The printer beeps at you angrily if you try to power it off while you are stuck in the middle of one of these menus. About half the time when I try to print over the wireless network, the printer fails to print with another error message that I cannot decipher, forcing me to unplug it and try again. I wouldn't buy this if I had known what a pain in the ass it would be.

Great printer for what it is... except for one thing.
This older model from Brother's MFC line is a solid multi-function laser machine. It prints fast and clear, it copies and scans clean, it's capable of faxing over WiFi. I love the print and copy quality on this thing, it's miles better than the old inkjets I was using before. The scanner's interface on my computer is pretty easy to use. I haven't been having any trouble with my drum running out of ink too fast, but I'm habituated to the frustrations of dealing with inkjet printers, so that might be effecting my perspective on that. The window on the machine is kind of small, but again, I've been using inkjets so I feel spoiled that there's a window at all. There's only one problem. This machine uses a lot of power. I have a window a/c that uses less power than this machine. I risk blowing a fuse every time I plug this thing in at home, and I'm not kidding. If you live in a place with older outlets, that could present a problem. I kind of have to laugh at the 'energy efficient' sticker on it because... haha, no. If it weren't for that one thing, I'd love it to pieces.
