Intermediate Accounting For Dummies

I am a college student and the intermediate accounting classes with my instructor are the most difficult to pass. I purchased the survival guides and they really did help me alot-but some stuff I just still couldn't wrap my head around- so I did what every normal college student would, I googled it. I found myself useing free exerpts out of this book all the time.It was worth the cost to just buy and have all sections.

Got the book in new condition. For obvious reasons, I purchased this book to help me in my intermediate accounting class, the book is in mint condition and is reasonably priced.

I do like the Dummies books of old. They literally did speak to you like you were a dummy, just to get you to understand easier.However recent Dummies books don't do as well as they used to. Some seem useless as they are just as difficult as the text books you are trying to learn from, just a alternate cheaper form of book.This book does it's job, but leaves a lot of questions unanswered as it isn't as descriptive as older books. But it's more effective than other Dummies books out there. This author was more aware of the goal of the book and did a much better job.I would recommend it, but prepared to look online for better descriptions occasionally.

Beware - this book may be useful to you only if you do accounting in the USA! There are some substantial differences in how accounting is done in the rest of the world outside the USA. Nevertheless, I did gain some insight into universal principles, and some useful understanding about the differences in accounting.

Liked it. It was a good refesher of my course. It is in a simple format. Much simpler than my actual course and course materials were.

It's a good guide, but the usefulness of this text will depend on where you are in your accounting studies. If you've taken principles or general accounting (i.e., ACCT 101 or 102), this is a good primer for concepts that are coming next. I've taken ACCT 201 and am presently in ACCT 202; regrettably, this book is too fundamental for my level.I would like to see an updated version of this text from the author; GAAP guidance has changed since this was written.
