Really awesome Bible, perfect for the kids, and... Yeshua
I bought this Bible for my young son who is too old to read out of story-book Bibles but not ready for an adult translation. I was specifically looking for a REAL Bible with the full text but with enough pictures to keep him motivated. The NLT (while not the best translation for adult study in my opinion) is perfect for his reading level, and he LOVES the comic book style in this Bible, so this is the perfect motivator to keep him interested in reading the word. I think the Manga art in this book is very well done - particularly when compared to some other attempts at "comic-book" Bibles I've seen in the past.As for complaints, my biggest problem here is that there isn't MORE of it. Now don't get me wrong - there's definitely enough illustration in here to keep a kid busy, and there's far more illustration than you're going to get out of most Bibles - but this is more manga-Bible-interspersed-within-a-real-Bible than it is a full manga of the whole Bible. I don't suppose I can blame Tyndale for not commissioning an illustration to go with every single minor Bible story (because the Bible is a very large book), but it's disappointing not to see stories like Daniel and the Lions, Jonah and the Whale, etc. Again - I don't want to be hyper-critical here, because they've done an excellent job; I just like it so much that I want to see more of it.And also: Yeshua. Evidently, whomever delivered on the Manga portion of the book is a Messianic Jew, and insists on using the the name Yeshua instead of Jesus. I don't have any particular problem with Messianic Jews using that linguistic variant on the Lord's name, but I do find it confusing that a Bible translation that uses "Jesus" throughout suddenly uses "Yeshua" in the illustrations. This is made all the more confusing by the fact that all of the other Bible characters are called by their normal anglicanized names. So... if it's confusing for me as an adult, it's definitely confusing for a small child. But if you can get past that little hiccup, this is a product that both you and your child can really enjoy.

NLT is great for kids and this seemed to be a better choice than picture bibles
My child loves this Manga Bible. It is of good quality with a nice leather cover and awesome cartoons inside. There's even drawing on the edges of the pages so it looks unique when the BIble is closed. For some reason, I had trouble finding the NLT version at the local stores so I was glad to find it here. Some of the other versions such as the New King James, ESV, or NIV were a bit too advanced and difficult for a child to read. The NLT is much more straightforward and perfect for a child until they are old enough to move into a good study BIble. I also looked at the popular animated picture Bibles but felt some of the cartoons were far to graphic. It's one thing to read and imagine David defeating Goliath and chopping off his head but altogether different to see a graphic picture of it so I passed on those and went straight to text only Bibles. The pics in the Manga Bible are sparse and only highlight certain important events so it's been perfect.

True to it's description!
I bring this with me to a multitude of places! It's very true opening with the Bible scriptures and had some manga pages in certain areas of the Bible with excellent illustrations!

Manga Bible
This project from NEXT has peeked my interest from quite some time. I personally disagree with the NLT but Billy Graham did say when asked what the best translation of the Bible was, "The one that you will read." The four section of manga in it are very cool and vivid. They do not replace actual scripture, but tries to bring them to life. My copy came with a pray from a 5th grade teacher for her student receiving it. That really blessed my heart. An added bonus of buying a used copy. Even though i disagree with the translation of the NLT, I did enjoy some of the ways they translated the scriptures. The delivery was on time and even with a little wear ad tear on the edges in great condition. Suited the purposes i had for it nicely

Only Partially Illustrated
I wish the entire Bible were illustrated. Only two small sections contain illustrations. So imagine a full NLT Bible with two small comic books inserted in it. That's what you get. Plus a cool Manga cover. So it has a cool factor that my son likes, but not as much illustration as he was expecting.

diff. translation
I gave this product 4 stars because of the translation. It is New Living Translation, and the versions we use in service are King James, and Amplified, so it kind of difficult for my 13 year-old Manga loving daughter to follow along.

Surprising Good Condition
I was pleasantly surprised that I received the book in great condition! I wasn't expecting the dust jacket sleeve, because the seller didn't show it in the picture, but I was quite pleased that it was with the book! Tyndale Publishing no longer prints this copy of the Manga Bible (too bad), but I prefer this one over the newer edition. I appreciate the seller's due diligence & am pleased with my purchase. If they should acquire another one in similar or new condition, please let me know.
