Easy, cute, but?
This project was actually very fun to put together for the Mother of our life for Mother’s Day. Very easy to make, with very clear instructions, and had it together in probably less than 15 minutes. With everything provided you won’t need to get anything, but your artistic side out once it comes to painting. Being we put this together as adults, I feel like ages 9+ could easily handle this project without issues. Except maybe the glue. I always question kids around sticky material, specifically the kids that can bind objects together. So my only complaint(s) would be as listed as: Price seems a bit high, because it’s not exactly high end material you’re working with. You can tell everything is bulk buys that were thrown together for a kit (Tools,Screws,Wood) the glue itself saves it tho, you get a large quantity, with enough to hold onto the extra for other projects you might have laying around. The wood, not the greatest but not balsa-wood terrible either. We had a couple pieces that were broken and glued together for repair. (Didn’t effect the build or finish, but the broken parts weren’t structural). But maybe that’s the reason for the repair and not replacing. Either way, it just worth a note. I will just leave it at that. Since we had no other issues or concerns.TL;DRperfect giftEasy project 9+ years old and up (Supervised for glue)Fits perfect, with a couple (non-functional?/ structural broken pieces (just scope out all pieces in the beginning)Bee’s will LOVE IT!

Perfect parent-kid bonding activity
Loved it. Husband built the bug hotel together with my little girl. Just a great, well thought out project. She's 7, so younger than recommended age, but they did it together. End result looks beautiful. Hope it holds up well outdoors. She's been searching for beetles, ladybugs and roly-polies ever since!

Hands on fun for children and adults alike
Bought it as a project to do with my elderly mother, loved the simplicity of the instructions, the presentation of the package, the organization of the contents, etc. They thought of every little detail. Only thing I recommend is having a battery operated screwdriver if you are disabled and can't use the regular screw provided in the box.

Did with my kids
Unless you have a very independent 6 and under kiddo I highly recommend completely this with an adult. My kids and I enjoyed this however I had thought it was a little less complicated for them to do

A little pricey.
In personIt looks more like a child’s toy than the picture . Pricey.

Not Designed for Outdoor Use
The SparkJump Premium Bug Hotel Kit has everything to build a cute Bug Hotel. It's early fall in the Pacific Northwest, and we just got our first frost. The bees, butterflies, and ladybugs are preparing for the upcoming Winter. Soon, outdoor scavenger hunts will provide the opportunity to relocate the hibernating species into their new home. Their new home must be kept outdoors so their hibernation isn't interrupted. The Kit comes with precut cedarwood, paints, silicone glue, hardware, and suitable hibernation material. The instructions have pictures, which makes them very helpful for younger builders. The finished Bug House is weather-resistant because the silicone glue is only water-resistant. SparkJump sells the same Paint Set, and it is designed for indoor use only. During hibernation, the Bug House must stay outdoors. Trying to keep the Bug House dry is challenging, especially on foggy mornings, which leave moisture on everything that isn't covered up. The indoor paint is going to become a dripping mess.Full Disclosure: I received this product for free from the Vine program. However, I did not receive any payment for this review.
