The plastic tub is 90cm (three feet) in diameter (if this is the one you are questioning as there are smaller ones - 66cm for example) and the metal grid overlaps by a couple of centimetres all round. The depth is 32cm or 13 inches. Of course, if you are covering with pebbles then you can spill over into the surrounding gravel or whatever without exposing what's underneath. I covered my grid with fine mesh before putting the pebbles on to keep out wildlife - especially frogs who find the smallest entrance and then cannot get out. Both tub and grid are very sturdy and easily walked on - I weigh 90kg. Thoroughly recommended. One tip:- the water level drops several centimetres a day when it's breezy. You might consider sinking the tub a little lower, slope the surrounding soil up to the level of the rest of your garden and using a bit of pond liner overlapping the tub below the grid to ensure that water that goes beyond the tub still gets channelled back into it. All this can be levelled - and hidden - by pebbles.
