I use this for Zoom calls and this is a massive step up from the typical built in camera found in laptops. There is no lag that I notice and is in sync with my audio which is sourced from an external USB microphone. The was no effort to use with my Thinkpad and my home desktop which uses a Gigabyte motherboard. Both PCs were able to recognize the device immediately. I use a Sony A73 and the device picks up the clean HDMI without any issues. Overall, this is an awesome device and great value for the price.Update: I purchased a second one for another PC that I have and have a Panasonic GH5 attached to it. It also works well with the capture device. The quality and reliability is consistent between two different units. Still a great a value.

Jan 7: I wanted to add that my Free Corel MultiCam Lite2 that comes with Corel PaintShop Pro easily captures and records from this device in MP4. You need to adjust your sound settings to record and play from card so you do not duplicate sounds or create echo. Previously I shared "This capture card just plugs in and all you have to do is set up your viewing/recording software. They give you directions for a very good shareware/freeware program OBS, and when followed it all works very well. I had one minor problem that was solved by muting all of the audio inputs except the one that was sync'd to my video. Great Product."

I wanted to connect my video camcorder to my laptop to stream videos and to make videos for YouTube. I set the output of my camcorder to the settings described in the instruction booklet. I had already bought a converter cable that had a male mini-HDMI connector at one end an a male "normal" HDMI connector at the other end. I used this cable to connect my camera to the HDMI input of the camera to the device and connect this to a USB input. It worked perfectly with no other fuss or hassle on my part. I was surprised that for $15, I didn't have to do anything more.

I needed an HDMI input to a laptop and this fills that need nicely. There is very little documentation so you are kind of on your own to get it to do what you want it to do. But overall I am very pleased with the value and performance of the device. I connected a Over the Air TV receiver that provides HDMI output to this device and then to the USB 3 connection on my laptop and it gives me TV function on my laptop.

I'm using for PC screen capture during presentations to go along with Camera video for recording. Very happy with the results. Good value!

This is a very cool piece of technology for the price. I used it to cast my Nintendo Switch to an OBS window on my PC so it was like I was playing switch from my PC.I only used it maybe three times times since I bought it. When I went to use it yesterday, I could not get it to load on my PC. The device was extremely hot so I unplugged it. I waited a little while after it cooled and tried it again with no luck.Even though I only used it a few times, this latest time I had left it plugged in for several days, so maybe just don’t do that between uses and it will last longer.

For my purpose, capturing video from various sources over HDMI, this works great and you can't beat the price. I use it with OBS (free) software. I haven't thrown anything overly demanding at it, like high framerate 4K gameplay, but it's performed flawlessly on everything I have fed it. It gets warm while running for long periods but not hot. If you need a high-end, professional capture card then maybe you need to spend $$$ on something with more bells and whistles but if you want a reliable card that nails the basics, this is it. Also, unlike some of the other lower priced cards, this is USB 3 and comes with a USB C adapter as well.

It broke after a little while and when it did work it had choppy video half of the time.
