Quality time with my son.
I brought this for my son's 7th birthday and he absolutely loves it.It was brought with a view to building the crane together and getting some quality time with him while educating him and entertaining him. This item has done all of the above and then some.We are taking it slowly, just spending an hour at a time, then putting it away for the next session. The crane its' self looks like it's going to be a very grand addition to my son's lego collection, all I need to do now is to find somewhere he can store it that's out of the way of his 3 year old brother !I will definitely be buying more Lego Technic for him (and me, if I'm honest)10/10 !

Never to old for lego
Having broken my lego i need ed something to do. I purchased this set. It blew me away. Now around the 40 year old mark i appeciate now more. lego has evolved and become so complex and thoughtful. My kids were wanting to help me build it. No its mine!

It would be 5 stars if it was anything else but lego...
The problem with lego is that all too often the products are nearly always perfect so I set them to a high standard. Whilst here, I have no real complaints I did expect a little more from lego. Firstly the power functions are needed for this set as I cannot imagine manually winding the crane. This is not included which is a bit of an oversight I think. Adding the power functions is fine if you have the kit but feel like it was a bit of an afterthought as it requires deconstructing a small chunk of the crane and is hardly an integral part to the overall construction unlike many other models. For something so fundamental to the model to be treated this way seems ill-conceived.Additionally, the central section of the truck unit is a little flimsy, as are the support arms which provide nothing more than cosmetic value (you can still easily move the model around with supports down). There are a few other really minor details that irked me that with a few more parts that could make the finished article a little more polished.Nevertheless, it is still a fun model to build, the wheel motion on the truck is simple enough but pleasing, The crane arm is steady and very stable and it has an ample portfolio of parts so if you mix it up with another set or two, there is very little you can't build.

fantastic
a very complex model. My 9 year old did it in a couple of days. lots of moving parts and you can even add a motor if you wish to make it remote controlled.

Bought this to build in the shed.. You cannot really go wrong with Lego. One of the few shining achievements of western civilisation.
