VERY DISAPPOINTED, NO LONGER AS GOOD....
I have worn this brand for fifteen years and have always been more than happy and given them a 5* rating, in fact I emailed the CEO and received a reply BUT this last pair are like a completely different boot. Within days the outer coating over the toes started to ‘peel’ due to kneeling, this has never happened before and I do the same work as always. Also they are not as comfortable and have this irritating habit of ‘eating my socks’ (as my late Mum used to say) in that my socks are constantly pulled down and end up bunched up around the toe area, my pet hate.I am trying to investigate further to see if they are ‘fakes’ but they don’t look like they are tbh.Hi-Tec sort yourselves out please, you have just lost a lifetime customer! @hitecoutdooreurope

Great boots.....
This is my second pair of Altitudes.....the first pair were a brown shade and were waterproof, comfortable and supportive. I ordered these black ones as a change and the finish is excellent. The brown ones are still going strong after 2 yrs wear but the soles are now getting a little worn. I can recommend this boot.....

Outer layer pealed off
Initially I was very happy with these boots but within 6 months the outer layer started pealing off quite badly. I contacted hi tec and they didn't want to know.

Have worn a few times now and I am impressed. Keeps my feet lovely and warm and have had no issues with water leaking into the boot at all. At one point I was standing in a stream, both feet covered in water, trying to fish my son out of trouble and had lovely warm, dry feet afterwards. Can't say the same for my son however :-)

Dreadful!
I bought these boots in October ( when it was relatively dry) and after only about 2 weeks the outer skin started to peel and flake. Shortly after that they started to leak water.I’ve only ever used them to walk across grass fields with my dogs so they’ve had very little “hard work”.I contacted Amazon after 4 weeks when it became 100% apparent these boots were not as described, and they gave me a full refund. It’s a bit of a shame because they are very comfortable boots, but useless in anything but bone dry weather.

High Quality Shoes
This is my second pair of the same model over a long period. As I love the perfect fit on me, I bought two pairs in one order this time. What you find in your shoes is quite personal and it varies widely from one person to another. However, in attempting to give an objective comment, I find that the quality of both the inside and the outside of the shoes is high, and they come with reliable water resistant properties, and that the sole lasts reasonably long.

hi-Tech Altitude Boots
Very nice boots for long distance hikes involving some scrambling. Very good grip inspires confidence on hills. You will find yourself walking faster than you would normally on wet and slippery ground. Wide and comfortable from day one. Not too heavy and nice balance of comfort and stiffness.A bit too warm for use in summer. Must have some sort of coating on the leather as it is very easy to clean. Just hose it and all the mud falls off. Nice.

Great boots for the money
Over the last 10 years I've owned about 5 pairs of Hi Tec Scarfell boots. The last two pairs let the water in......in fact the last pair almost from day one! Thought I'd try a different manufacturer and send a bit more money. Then I saw these, gave them a try and have been pleasantly surprised. No wet feet as yet. Laces could do with being slightly longer. I'd say they are half a size bigger than required but thick socks sorts that out. Also fairly difficult to get then pulled in and done up really tight. The eyelets seem to hold/grip the laces and makes it near on impossible to do them up tight.Saying all that ..... I would recommend these boots.
