I got myself one of these for a road-trip through France. We had the usual excess of personal devices: laptops, phones, tablets, cameras - this was my plan to help keep them all charged.It turns out we didn't use it anywhere near as much as we expected - I'm taking this as a good thing - but it was great when we did.The cable had enough length to reach from the cigarette lighter in the front through to the back seats, without feeling taught. The appliance itself is compact and fit perfectly into double drinks holder on the center console of an Evoque, this kept it out of the way but easily accessible. You can turn the UK style sockets on using the flick switch, USB sockets seem always on.The device does get quite toasty if powering a couple of devices on the UK sockets. The USB ones don't seem to generate the same heat. The inbuilt fan does a reasonable job of keeping heat down but we did have one moment where the unit seemed to turn itself off (orange light), waiting a few minutes and turning it off/on fixed this so no long term fault.Definitely a worthwhile investment if travelling with similar devices.

Good priced charger, works as it should do

Used on various devices rated from 50-140watts, all well below the 200watt sustained and 250watt spike load rating of this inverter. The inverter would work for short periods before turning itself off becoming concerning hot and smelling like burning when using lower power devices. When using a 140watt battery charge for some power tools it would work for about 30 seconds before again becoming concerningly hot and going into a power protection mode even though the charger is well below 200watts and I've tested the charger to confirm that's all it draws when plugged into the wall too.The device is very cheap and hollow, thin brittle plastic makes up most of it, the plugs are weirdly stiff to plug into and there's no screw mount holes or anything so I guess they assume most people are just leaving it on the floor somewhere?Not a product I'd recommend based on it becoming dangerously hot or not working at all, smelling like burning plastic, being very cheaply and poorly made and often not working at all. The 200watt sustained load claim is clearly false

Being as I have to do a lot of work whilst travelling, there are occasions when I need to use my MacBook and the battery isn’t going to last the duration, so I needed something to assist me when a wall power socket isn’t available.This item is ideal and worked perfectly to allow me to spend 4 hours parked up in an area where I could not access a regular power supply and powered my MacBook to allow me to carry on with business as usual.It simply plugged in to my power supply (cigarette lighter) in the car and charged my MacBook.It has a switch on the side to power it on and also a little light which indicates when there’s power. It has 2 USB ports also which come in handy.Someone else reviewed theirs and said the power sockets were a loose fit - I can report that mine has no such problem and fitted very well with no risk of loose connections or the plug being dislodged - quite the opposite infact. It was a very secure fit that required a bit of a tug to separate the plug from the socket.It is a reasonably sized, light weight bit of kit which will fit in my glove box, under my seat, pocket on the back of my seat, door pocket or even in the pocket in the centre console.Would highly recommend to anyone who travels and needs to have a power supply handy.FYI this will not power hair straighteners and will likely blow the fuse in the car, so be sure to only use it for low powered things.
