I used this almost every day of our August Disney World vacation and found it very helpful in protecting my fair skin and providing shade. The umbrella also fit in my Loungefly backpack. Two spines were broken by the end of the trip but it still got the job done.Tip for theme parks: when you are going through security, remove the umbrella from your bag, leave space after the person in front of you, and hold the umbrella in front of you (extend your arm). Otherwise, you will be flagged for an additional security check.

Easy to operate and really stable in the wind

Good: It's lighter and slimmer than my other two UV umbrellas, so it's easy to carry in my purse. The actual color is prettier than I thought. The actual color is slightly lighter than the photo I posted.Bad: It's not so sturdy. I hope it works on a windy day. The smell is funny, as some people pointed out in their reviews.Unknown: I wonder why the coating chemicals are used for the fabric. Is it for UV effects or waterproofing? I hope this is "Blocking UV 99.98%," as advertised. The package did not include any proof or explanations of the UV-related technologies. No tags. The company wrote this item works for UVA (but not for UVB?)

Fantastic for keeping the sun (or rain!) off. The black lining is the important thing - it provides restful shade for your eyes.It isn't as lightweight as some, but I attached a strap to the case so that I can have it comfortably handy at all times.We were in Malaysia for two months so it has been well road tested!!
