Friedrich CEW12B33A Chill Premier Smart Air Conditioner Window Unit, WiFi Mobile Control, White, Heating & Cooling Capacity (12000 BTU)

The 8000 BTU version of the AC is very quiet. I have installed it in a bedroom. I expected the same from this unit. The 12000 BTU version is definitely not nearly as quiet.After some research, I can only conclude that this unit is able to cover a larger area room and increase its BTU rating by use of a more powerful fan. The unit is the same size as the 8000 BTU version. It may have more robust components as well, although I couldn’t quite tell. What it does have is much louder and more powerful fan speeds. So much so that, even on the lowest speed setting, the volume level was intolerable for sitting in the living room with it.I am disappointed that this manufacturer refuses to put decibel level ratings on their various units. I understand that noise and volume levels are very subjective. A decibel rating would at least give some guidance with which to evaluate. I have purchased another much more expensive AC from the same manufacturer, which has a reputation for the most quiet unit on the market. That is the Kuhl series. The only reason I purchased it is because I was able to preview a version of it and another friend’s home. Had I been able to compare volume levels with a decibel rating, I could’ve saved myself the trouble of the initial order, install, uninstall, and shipping back to the seller.I have to return this AC because it is completely unusable in a living room area. I imagine it would do the job if volume was not an issue. Unfortunately, it is for me.

I wish I had ordered two units, by the time I install this awesome machine, they were off sale. So I bought another from a local store, big mistake. Very happy with my new Frierich unit.

Our home is 1500 square ft and it cools it great. Remote is easy to use

Works really well, cools room quickly, just a little too noisy .
