CDIP Exam Preparation 1st Edition

Great study guide

First off, i used this guide to study for the exam and I passed. BUT....this is very poorly written and edited, grammatical errors and typos throughout. This particular edition is outdated, several of the questions on the practice exam were wrong due to updated coding clinics or guidelines. Some answers were just plain wrong- like some of the answers from a chart. Don’t expect a lot of information in the book itself—it was pretty sparse. There were two practice exams with 140 questions each- they were helpful to an extent but as I was studying I began to worry about content that would show up on the exam- would it be the outdated content from the guide or updated on the exam? I wasn’t sure what I needed to study, but like I said overall I did pass the exam. I also have a CCDS credential and I will say that exam prep book was far superior on many levels. All that said I wouldn’t recommend this book at full price unless a new edition comes out. Try to find a used one if you can....

There are useful questions and I certainly applaud this Author’s efforts. I truly do, as this is an area with very few study resources. However, the grammar and faulty answer key (at least 2 answers are mislisted from Exam 2 which caused confusion. There may be more that I did not catch.) is something that I feel AHIMA should look into before stamping their approval or at least work to correct it. This book cost too much for that level of quality. I would still recommend it though because there’s not much else to compete with.

This book is very helpful. It explains the material clearly and is easy to understand. It really helped me review and feel more confident. I would recommend it to anyone who needs extra practice or a clear summary of the topic

Quality wise not worth the price. Paper was so thin, book was thin as well. I have not gone through the questions yet but I already was disappointed with the look of it the moment I saw it because of the poor quality and the expensive price,. Not worth buying but if this will help me pass the exams then it probably will be worth it.

I took the CDIP exam today and I did pass. But there was very little content from this book that was in the test. It may have helped a little, but it's really out of date and needs to be updated. I would recommend reviewing the latest AHIMA practice brief on CDI and read the last few AHIMA journal articles on CDI. Also know your metrics and coding guidelines. I did not find that this book really helped. Pass.
