Works fine
The product works fine, and has accepted its first couple of terabytes of data no problem.The best part is that the delivery driver actually rang my bell and it truly was "handed to resident", rather than just leaving it by my door to be discovered, eventually.

To store lot of stuff, which I had on my laptop. 4tb hardrive was a very good price. You can never find this product from any other shop for this price..!

Excellent
Excellent. Had to wait a bit for delivery, as it came from the US, but there were no problems. The hard drive itself is compact and works as you'd expect.

Poor packaging
Package was very poorly wrapped, box holding drive had been dented an bashed.Thankfully drive seems to be fine bur sadly dissapointedWasn't sent securely just pushed thru the letterbox

Faster than expected
Bought as an extra backup… one SSD failed on me so thought I'd mix the tech a bit. The drive was shipped from the US to the UK. The photo shows this to be the latest version of the canvio advance. Photos on amazon showed the old and new all mixed up. Not certain what I would exactly receive. Write/read speeds difficult to pin down on the web. Interface quoted in specs as Usb 1.1 😕 and on youtube etc test speeds were all over the place so not expecting too much from it, performance wise. But… writes data on my kit (on both a 2014 desktop and a 2020 laptop) at a steady 140Mbs… reads at 150+Mbs. Which is not bad for a HDD.Security software (which is a type of whole disc encryption) works fine and No loss of transfer speeds when using it. You don't have to use it for the drive to work. I did not use the backup software. Drive needed a security update when I checked the settings.Impressed and happy, so far…👍

Buy something else
While it does serve its purpose, its transfer rate is HORRENDOUS. My 2016 Samsung M3 SSD transfers at 4-7GB/min, this one transfers at 0-2GB/min.If you need storage for occasionally used files, this is fine. If you need fast transfer, this product isn't what you are looking for.

PLEASE AVOID!!!!!!!
I bought two, even with the bad reviews and now I'm paying for it. One worked great and is really fast with transfer speeds upto 10GB sec. It also has the new USB 3 to USB type C. so no good in a laptop. The second one failed after 10 minutes.DO NOT BUY PLEASE AVOID THIS HDD
