Spectrum Language Arts, Grade 5 Paperback – December 25, 2006

I purchased this for my son to complete over his summer break. He is already a bit of a struggling student maintaining consistent average grades as long as he really works at it. So I knew I needed him to have review over the summer. This Spectrum book fits our needs for Language Arts. He has never been one to enjoy school, and I'm not going to lie to you all and say he loves this book and looks forward to doing it each day. However, he does complete each day's lesson without complaining and on occasion without prompting even. He just completed 5th and is doing this 5th grade Spectrum Language Arts books. If you have a more advanced child and want to keep him/her engaged over the summer, I would recommend going up to the next grade level. There is a wide range of topics covered throughout the workbook. I've included photos of the table of contents so that you can see each topic. The book arrived on time with prompt shipping. I've been pleased with this purchase and would recommend this work book to others for summer retention or as extra review throughout the school year. I hope my review has been helpful to you.

Great book my daughter has learned so much!

Recently I bought several of Spectrum Math, Language Art, and Writing books for my son, so I will write one review and post it for all of them.My son has ADHD and had a very hard time in school. I decided to homeschool him for one year so that he can get a better foundation and then go back to public school. I bought these books with the suggestion of an experienced homeschool mom. They have been great! I am very pleased with how organized and easy to follow these books are. I pretty much let my son read the instructions and answer the questions himself. He is learning how to learn and his self-confidence is going up. Of course I am there to help him if he needs help, but the books are so well written and organized that he rarely has a question about the instructions or solving the problems in the book.I highly recommend these books for kids that dislike learning, have learning disability, or like my son have ADD or ADHD.Also, I bought couple of books (level 1 and level 2) titled “Building Thinking Skills” author Sandra Parks and Howard Black. These books are great tools for my son to help him to learn how to think logically to solve problem. I highly recommend them.

Structure and organization is great. Words are simple clear and straight forward. Love these books for extra work. It helps the kids to learn things that are not taught at school. It gives extra information that's always and will always be useful to kids and even adults_

I really like how the lessons are set up in this workbook and I love how clear the instructions are. It gives a good lesson and worksheet together and we can choose to spend as much time as we want going over each particular one. Very helpful!

This age-appropriate book helps my son gain more understanding and practice. Will recommend to students needing additional help with their language class.

We like the spectrum rage and have used grade 3 and 4 as well. Good for independent study as well as classrtoom work.

I ordered this for a teacher in my school district to preview. She has been very happy with it so far.

Really a good resource for both teachers and students.
