Better than expected
Was flipping through Prime Video for something in the horror/thriller genre to watch and this movie caught my eye. The preview looked interesting and figured I give it a shot. Wasn't expecting much and I knew I could always hit that old stop button and move on to something else if the movie was not up to par. What pretty much immediately catches the eye is the Ashley Benson who plays the newly transplanted college student who becomes the focus of an offscreen "computer" stalker (that's what the term Ratter refers to if anyone is wondering about the name of the movie). She has the perfect mix of attractiveness and innocence to capture the audiences focus. That's good cause 90% of the movie has her on screen and she really does make this movie worthwhile. If you're looking for a movie in this genre with an abundance of nudity, sex and violence...and a crazy eyed on screen madman, this is not it. I would recommend something more along the lines of 13 Cameras (or it's "sequel" 14 Cameras). But it doesn't mean that this movie doesn't have element of sexuality that you would expect to see in a "I'm watching you" type of movie. The heavy use of POV shots (as if you're actually seeing what the stalker is seeing) actually makes this movie more intimate and personal IMO.Without throwing in any spoilers this movie basically follows Emma as she turns from a vibrant and attractive transplant to the big city into a wreck from everything that is happening to her. All seen through the "voyeuristic" eyes of her online predator. As far as the other comments about this movie being slow?Cyber stalking and video voyeurism is only as fast as how the victim goes in the privacy if her own home. She's talking on the phone with her family and friends. She's watching TV. She's showering. She's sleeping. She's doing yoga. She's playing a wii like game. She's playing with a cat. That's real life for most people. None of it fast or action packed. That's what most people's lives are at home. And that's where all this cyber voyeurism is occurring. I'm not sure how you can make it action packed lol and not have it seem fake.As far as not knowing who the cyber stalker is?I got the sense that that's the point. Yeah there are a few points in the movie where the director minded hinted that it could be her one of the other on camera characters but the fact that the you never got to see the bad guys face (well we kinda did and it wasn't the bf) drives the point that you can't guard against this by being careful who you associate with. The only thing that I didn't like was the ending. Felt a bit rushed compared to the rest of the movie and that last part with the police arriving was hard to understand what they actually found which. But I don't think it kills the movie at all.All in all it was actually very enjoyable.

It was OK
Definitely makes people think about their reliance on technology and ALL of the ways your private life can be invaded. That said, I am assuming all the views from the phone and laptop camera was just for the movie and NOT actually this stalker hacking her devices. That would be way too far fetched as this is NOT that simple as people think.I am in technology and while anything is possible it is highly unlikely someone is THAT proficient in hacking every device like this. If you have ever watched criminal minds and their computer gal Penelope....they show her pretty much gaining access to anything she connects to...easily and without much effort....not realistic. Otherwise if it was this simple why bother having firewalls and IDS/IPS or even passwords or 2 factor authentication for that matter. Enough of the rant about that specific tech issue. As for the movie, it DOES show a realistic scenario of a young woman being stalked and how vulnerable they can be---right up until the actual assault or kidnapping or whatever happened. The viewer never knows as the movie ends during that scene so I guess we are supposed to assume the worst and the young girl has become yet another statistic and parents have lost a child. Also surprising not one person in this apartment building heard her screaming and all the noise but that's possible if no one was home or the building not populated fully....who knows.Basically, a real downer of a movie with the only lesson being....single women living alone should buy TWO THINGS: a GUN and a LARGE DOG not some stupid little toy poodle....that's what I got out of this film. If I had a daughter living in a similar situation she would have a CC permit, be fully training to use it, and make sure she trains in self-defense before venturing out. But, again, this movie is probably closer to reality than most would like to admit albeit a little corny with the 'computer hacker stalker in black' set up....I would guess most stalkers aren't this prepared or organized and probably are just perverts who can't help themselves and won't bother hiding their faces or wearing special assault clothing....just saying. It's free in Prime so if you spend the 90 or so minutes watching it's not like you lose anything but time :-)

This wasn't the worst movie I've ever seen but it wasn't the best ...
This wasn't the worst movie I've ever seen but it wasn't the best either. If you don't mind repetitiveness and shaky camera flips and views, you might like this one. After watching the trailer, I thought it looked like a very interesting movie with promise. Even more so when the lead is Ashley Benson (Pretty Little Liars) who is accompanied by Matt McGorry (How To Get Away With Murder). Both are talented but you don't really get to see that in this movie. The premise was interesting, it was something that a lot of people might be terrified for. Because of that, I really thought that this movie could be good. I hoped it wasn't all the flipping views with shaky bits and awkward pauses like in the trailer but sadly, it was. That took away from the story a bit for me. While it was needed for certain parts, I wish it wasn't like that for the entire movie.Despite how much promise this looked like it had, I feel it fell kind of short for several reasons.- Lack of backstory. We really knew nothing about Emma Taylor (Benson) and what had gone on in her past. We knew she had parents and an angry ex, that was pretty much it.- No Character Development. This ties into the above, when you don't have a backstory, you can't develop characters as easily. Even with good actors and actresses, there is only so much you can do.- Boring. Yeah, I said it, parts of this movie were boring. How many times do you want to watch someone shave part of their leg and play the same game in an hours time? The only reason I am giving this two stars is the concept was there, it just needed more substance and time. It was rather short and I feel that really hurt this particular film.

Alright to watch, just shows you have to be very careful with personal information.
This film could have been so much better in my opinion. The story line was a good idea, the beautiful & talented Ashley Benson played her part really well as the cyber stalked victim. But for me it relied to much on the use of the camera shots being all done on the phone & laptop. For me personally it made it very disjointed & annoying to watch from so many various angles. Plus the film never came to a satisfying conclusion, left it in the air.
