Yes but pending how far the gate slides into the sleeve, you might not be able to pull the gate open enough to pull it out of the sleeve with the pin, even with the bolts missing. But thinking of it that way a pair of bolt cutters or battery grinder is gonna you past the lock too.. I used this just on a farm gate where a lock wasn't needed so I didn't even have to use the locking feature.

John... I had to ask my husband... for this was for him to use on our farm/ranch corrals. He said it is a inch shaft. Hope this answer helps you in what your wanting to know.

There is no cord, the lock simply connects the gate to the post. All you have to do is push at the top of the mechanism and it will open. My pigs still haven't figured it out. I like them, but I like the blue two way latches better. Good luck.

Yes on the direction of gate pull.I use these on calfing pens. Your gate can swing either way. As shown however your gate opening between posts is somewhat not as wide. Great product for a gate that swings one way. I think speech models are not made on the USA.
