Great Addition to the Main Story
This a is nice filler to have in between the long season break, and it ties directly into the main story.

RAYLA'S STORY BEGINS!!!
WARNING: Slight spoilers of the beginning of the story ahead. The life of a young moonshadow elf is filled with adventure and wonder and the joy of community. But it is also a world of commitment and duty as young Rayla discovers when her parents, Lain and Tiadrin, answer the call to be guardians to the Dragon Queen and the egg of the Dragon Prince. It is one of the highest honors for any elf, but it also means that their lives and their families must be left behind. Now, with Runaan and Ethari as her new family, and her immediate role-models, Rayla must find her way forward through her loss and her pain. Struggling to find her path, the young moonshadow elf's natural curiosity drives her to uncover the secret that her new family is keeping from her. What are the mysterious weapons that Ethari crafts for his partner, and why does Runaan need such deadly tools in his work? Soon, terrible truths are revealed and Rayla makes a life choice that will form her entire future and deliver her to a life that will become, perhaps, the most important to not only her people, but all those of Xadia. But that life may not begin if she can't solve the riddle and the threat of the Bloodmoon Huntress...a legend thought to be only a tale to frighten young elves but may be more terrible than any of those tales and stories could ever imagine. The second graphic novel set in the world of the DRAGON PRINCE. Written by Nicole Andelfinger from a story by the creators of the Dragon Prince, the authors give insight into both Moonshadow culture as well as one of the most seminal events that form and shape the elf whose choices and decisions will affect the entire world. An excellent prequel to what is to come.

EXCELLENT 'canon' side story to TDP Universe
I absolutely loved this comic. It's a bit of a prequel, and gives background to Rayla's past. You learn about her first few days living with Ethari and Runaan, and it gives the origin story of why Rayla hates water. The artwork is heavily influenced by the show, and the character interactions felt very natural. In addition, a new, original character is introduced (I won't spoil it), and their design is BOMB. I hope to see them pop up in future episodes!A great addition to my book collection! Between these and the ATLA comics, I'm becoming quite the comic collector!

Rayla's backstory.
If you love the Dragon Prince stories, you'll love this! It's about when Rayla is a child. So if you're interested in reading more about her backstory, you'll want to get this book. I love the series so this one was definitely something that I wanted to read more about and sometimes you'd rather read than watch anyhow. It's a good way to get your Dragon Prince fix while you're out and about.

Good story
Came broken, but that’s because I didn’t realize it was a used book

I have re-read this many times!
This comic checks every box: continuity with the existing storyline, building onto the lore, providing some answers for certain character traits, how adorable Rayla was as a child, and how absolutely endearing Runaan and Ethari are. Ruthari is one of my favroite pairs in the show and this is exactly the content I was hoping for. Here's to hoping they get their chance in the show soon! And a couple of new characters that I now really hope to see again in the future! 10/10! I've read it several times already! And if you're ordering this for a child, rest assured it's fine for kids of any age. There's just some themes about comprehending life and death that might be difficult, but these are all through Rayla's perspective, meaning it may even be very helpful to younger kids who have lost a family member.
