Hayward SP2603VSP Super Pump VS 1.65 HP Variable-Speed Pool Pump, Energy Star Certified

I replaced my old single speed Hayward with this one and it was a drop in! Programming is easy and it's worked flawlessly all summer. Saved a LOT of money. You DO need to also install a flow meter so you know how fast to run it to turn over your pool volume in a day. I let it run 24 hours a day at just 20 gallons/min. It draws 200 watts! The old one for 12 hours drew 1600 watts! Now that it's winter and the water is COLD, I just keep it running at minimum speed of 1000 rpm to keep the pipes from freezing and it's drawing 57 watts - less than a light bulb.The only downside is the price now. In the summer I paid just over $400 for it and now it's over $800. WHAT?????

Amazon would not publish my original review, they said it mentioned a competitor. It did not, it only mentioned the previous Hayward pump I had on my filter. The problem was it leaked from new, customer support was no help, so I had it fixed myself at my own expense. Now it is leaking again. I don't know how to get satisfaction from Hayward, purchased through their Amazon store. I paid almost $1000 for this thing and it leaks, again. Not happy.

Easy install and programming. Electricity savings are noticeable already.update on pump- well after 7 months it stopped working. it should be covered under warranty 1. because its under a year 2. it was professionally installed, removed it and it has been sitting since Monday on one of their approved service centers.their service center has been trying to get a hold of the local hayward rep to approve the warranty and they have not had any luck. i have received a hayward case id number but with no resolution and snail pace responses.they are good when they are working, but to go out after 7 months when its been properly maintained and installed makes me question the product as well as their customer service being beyond horrible.will update to see if they make up for lack of contact or stand by their product.

Has performed as expected for the first 2 weeks. Too early to predict my energy savings yet though.

I'm no pool expert. Just a regular homeowner that needed a replacement pump. I replaced an ancient Hayward single speed with this and I couldn't be happier. Only had it going for a couple weeks now, so too soon to comment on the quality. Quiet. Easy to program. Easy to install. It takes some getting used to the fact that it runs so much slower and I was used to our fountain running a certain way and the skimmer working a certain way, so I had to adjust my thinking. The cost savings for electricity is yet to be seen - but I'm trusting that it will be there. I'm not sure how it could NOT be with all the options you have to program.

I bought this pump to replace an old single speed pump. It was much cheaper than my certified Hayward dealer could get it. Dealer installed for me and it went right in where the old one was with only minor plumbing required. This pump is so quiet it can hardly be heard unless running at top speed. I set it to run from 10 am to 4 pm on about 3/4 speed and the rest of the time on 1/4 speed. Its cheaper than running the old pump only 6 hours per day and the pool stays much cleaner with the water moving all the time even at slow speed. I'm very impressed with it so far.

Update:Glad I paid extra for the extended warranty. Failed 4 months outside of MFG Warranty.However, it only refunded me for the original purchase price. (Pump was originally around $400)Now I see the price has jumped to over $800.What gives?-------Original Review----------Owned less than a month, but also added the 3 year warranty plan after seeing all the "failed motor driver" reviews.Looks like the 3 year extended warranty starts once the 1 year warranty expires.Can't even hear it running at low speed (1,100 RPM - 65 watts)Got a $200 rebate through Southern California Edison (power company) for it + 5% in Amazon credit with the Amazon Prime Visa card. Nice!Crazy easy install. 3 wires and 2 fittings - 30 minutes.

The product picture is different from what you receive, it seems that this is a picture of an older model. The pump I received has the newest control panel which is much nicer and allows for more settings, readouts, and timers. The unit was installed today and is working flawlessly, it replaced our old 3/4hp super pump and is barely audible at 1750rpm consuming 175watts of power.
