Great product from Pinzon - ripped off by Amazon - again
Straight up, I'm a down comforter snob. I've had 'down alternative' and non-down comforters and they never have seemed to measure up to even a cheap real down comforter. I will not even consider purchasing a non-down comforter no matter how cheap or how good its supposed to be.And, that's why they say, 'never say never'.I recently purchased an older mountain home in the Rocky Mountains where it drops below and frequently stays below freezing during the winter and can drop to sub-zero temperatures for days (or weeks) at a time. No home is insulated enough when its -0 or worse and there's a 30-40 mph wind blowing. I don't mind a 60 degree bedroom but with older guests staying for the holidays I had to outfit the guest bedroom with better than flannel sheets, a couple blankets and a throw. :)Unfortunately, my guests can not use down because of allergies so I was forced to shop for a good quality, warm 'down alternative' comforter (and pillows, but that's another review). After spending hours and hours reading reviews for something I didn't even want to buy I settled on this comforter. My first and primary concern was with the 'warmth' rating. I KNOW how to judge a down comforter, but this was new territory and I also know how manufacturers fudge on or exaggerate their specifications and ratings. I didn't have time before my guests arrived to receive, try and exchange if the first one didn't work as desired. I also didn't want to order the warmest one possible because if the weather is nice the passive solar works quite well and too heavy a comforter would have meant nights of flipping the comforter on and off every 20 minutes. Not the way to get a good nights sleep. I settled for the Medium Warmth comforter and that worked quite well. We had a good snow storm and outdoor temperatures down close to zero and my guests were quite happy with it and had no complaints. They were also very happy that it wasn't real heavy. IMO, this is about the same performance as an equivalently rated down comforter.I like the quality of the comforter shell. I have to say that as much as I love down, I really don't like the shedding. Not having to vacuum up feathers is nice. The shell is as good as the shell on my $450 down comforter. Just as heavy and as well stitched. Now, how well it does over time ... well, we'll see. I expect I'll have to swap if for my comforter to find out as I don't have guests often enough to really tell.I can't really speak to the 'hypoallergenic' part other than my guests said they had no problems whatsoever with their allergies.Overall, I am surprised and very happy with this product. IMO, the value exceeds the cost. A $100 real down comforter wouldn't be worth the box it was shipped in. This product is well worth the money. If it turns out that I need second one for another bedroom I don't think I'd hesitate to purchase another.[Updated: 1/13/2017]I purchased a king size 'extra warmth' comforter. Excellent, just like the previous one. Know that when they say 'extra warmth' they ARE NOT kidding. With two people and the thermostat set at 65F it is really too warm. Definitely a 'dead of winter' comforter. I have to give Pinzon a A+. Their comforters are amazing, especially for the price. The zipper 'bag' that the comforter comes in is clear vinyl with (cotton) cloth sides. One side was ripped 3/4 of the way out and the entire edge of the comforter for several inches in was discolored and dirty. Based on the appearance and the degradation of the cloth, I'd say this had been sitting on a shelf for months in the sun. The cloth had not really torn as rotted and then gave way under pressure from the compressed comforter.THERE IS NO WAY this wasn't noticed when it was boxed. It was not 'damaged in shipping' or even when packaging. This was clearly a case of Amazon shipping a ruined product in their usual attempt to get it out the door to a customer in hopes that the customer wouldn't return it and Amazon would be rid of a damaged, normally unsaleable product.I've read dozens of reviews of other products, and this isn't the first, third or even fifth time this has happened to me or others with other products sold and shipped by Amazon. They can't even blame it on their 'partners' because this was sold and shopped by Amazon. Enjoy this sale Amazon. You are one screw-up away from loosing a customer permanently. I can just as easily purchase from Walmart or eBay.

Updated: Medium weight at 50 ounces is too warm for most
Washing before use is key; otherwise, the comforter is too hot. When I first received it, I was pleased with the quality construction, good size, nice cotton fabric and fluffy appearance. I immediately placed it into my duvet cover but spent many fitful nights where I felt overheated and threw off the comforter while I slept. I seriously regretted my choice, assuming the fill power was too high even though I purchased the lesser medium weight. Thinking I would donate it, I washed the comforter. (Note: there were many small fuzzballs when I removed it from my duvet cover for some reason. The comforter is pretty big so I washed it in a commercial washer/dryer. I also used tennis balls for the dryer, which was advised in the tag.) However, it washed beautifully and looked so nice that I decided to give it another chance. I loved how light it was. That night, the comforter was warm but not stifling hot as before. I can only assume washing it removed the coating that manufacturers apply to linens for a wrinkle-free look in the package. The coating may have made the fabric less breathable and too hot. It's still warm but more comfortable now, though better for cooler seasons. It looks great on my bed. Perhaps, the filling could be a bit reduced, 15-20%, for a true all-season version.Update 1/28/18: I've reduced the rating to 3 stars from 4. While washing the comforter helped to remove the residual fuzzies and factory finish, I've come to realize the 50-oz Primaloft fill is just too warm to be marketed as "medium warmth ... reducing the need to switch out the bedding by season." After some online digging, I contacted the manufacturer, a company that produces a variety of bedding for many brands including this one. A company rep told me 50 oz is actually considered "heavy weight," though this product is described as "medium." (To be fair, the majority of comforters they and the industry produce are in the 45-60 oz range. The problem is that these products are marketed for general, all-season usage.) But they also produce a few thin versions roughly half the size, 20-30 oz of Primaloft, and those are marketed as "summer" bedding. (Surprisingly, finding a "summer" option with a natural fabric and right length was difficult, as most were synthetic and smaller.) I finally found one with 24 oz, and it keeps me warm in the middle of winter. After now having purchased two Primaloft comforters (this 50-oz comforter and another 24-oz one) and pillows, I wonder if the fill is too warming for bedding despite its good down-like yet hypoallergenic qualities including easy cleaning and durability. After 4-5 hours overnight, I begin to feel too warm, which disrupts my sleep. Outerwear apparel (worn typically outside) with this fill are usually thinner than down versions. It's not much of a stretch to realize that a fluffy Primaloft comforter (replicating the look of lofty down) wrapping us at night in our bedrooms may lead to overheating. Now, if only the industry would correct itself and manufacture/advertise/market a bit more accurately, we could all sleep better at night.

Muy recomendable
Tenía ganas de un edredón para el verano. El que tengo es de pluma de ganso y para esta temporada es caluroso.
