Would this fit into a 2'' easter egg? If they were squished up?

Yes u can squish them into Easter eggs they might just pop pout when opened but can’t promise u rhat

do the hands move? can they stand on a surface on their own?

The hands do move, they are made of soft foam. They can stand on their own on a surface. I bought these for people at work and they were lots of fun.

Between 2 and 3 inches. Kids really loved these. Much better than plastic ones.

Could i place these on top of cupcakes?

I would not recommend it. The bottom part is a mesh plastic and the icing/cupcake would make it messy. And it’s too top- heavy to balance it on top (if you were to place a small circle cardboard on top of the cupcake for example).
