The idea of this item is really good but the quality of the finger guards are poor.
The media could not be loaded. The idea of this item is really good but the quality of the finger guards are poor. The pack contained two thumb blades, one slightly larger than the other so they would fit different sized hands. They had poorly fitted blade guards which kept falling off. The silicone finger guards were in sets of two. One set longer than the other. The shorter set seemed to be thinner than the longer set.I have tomato plants that needed cropping and I thought this set would be very useful. I placed one of the blades on my thumb and one of each size of the finger guards on my index and middle finger, all set for pruning. The first cut was amazing, worked so well, so easy to use. I pruned another branch of tomato plant and again it worked effortlessly, like a hot knife through butter. The third cut not only went through the plant, it also went through the finger guard and into my finger. It happened so quickly and easily that at first I didn’t realise until I looked down to check the blade then saw the hole in the guard. That’s when the stinging started. If the finger guards were made of a more sturdier material then this set would be an amazing addition to the occasional gardener but this set as it is I would not recommend it to anyone.

Handy little tool to have about you and managers taking small cutting easily
I've tried these out twice now and they have their good points and their bad points, firstly they are very handy to use when you want to take some cuttings. Its quite easy to use this simple cutting kit and you can carry it about you in your pocket, with the safety cover on, so it's ready to hand when you want it, but it doesn't take up a lot of space and is nice and portable. Much more so than a larger tool, secateurs for instance. However, because it so small, I definitely need to find somewhere to store this and the accessories where I won't misplace them. Another downside is because this is quite a small cutting tool, you can't really use it for anything other than relatively thin cuttings

Makes pinching out and picking beans easier and less painful!
The media could not be loaded. The moment I saw these thumb knives I knew exactly what I needed them for. I am a big gardener, and often use my thumb nail to pick my climbing beans or to prune soft shoots of my olive trees, but after a while the finger I use against my nail gets sore. The pack contains one large size thumb knive and one smaller, with four protective silicone finger cots to use on an apposing finger to protect it from the knife. The small thumb knife fits me best, but I can equally use the large one if I use one of the finger cots underneath it.I am really pleased with how well these work! All of my beans are gone now for this year, but my olive trees are at the stage where I pinch of new shoots, so I have taken a video of me doing it. It works really well (and would be even easier if I hadn’t been holding my phone in the other hand to video it). I would highly recommend this to anyone who does a lot of pinching out or picking as it will really save your fingers from being sore at the end of it!

Don't bother
As a keen(ish) gardener I take cuttings of plants and so always have a little pair of sharp clippers to hand, therefore I was interested to see how this little gadget would compare. What you get are two thumb covers, different sizes, each with a sharp little blade, and packs of silicone covers for the appropriate sized fingers. The blades, by the way, have little protective covers which are utterly useless as they won't stay on.So, having chosen the relevant size for my thumb and fingers, off I went into the garden to add to my cuttings collection. Would it be unfair of me to declare this tool useless? Maybe, but I found it so. On the face of it it looks such a nifty little thing, so handy just to nip that ideal little piece off, but no. It didn't matter which way I angled the blade or where I positioned the thumb cutter, it just didn't work as quickly, or as efficiently, as my little clippers. This is one of those things you think you Really Must Have. You don't. It's trying to solve a problem that just isn't there – and that blade, by the way, is sharp and can easily cut through the silicone “protective” cover.

Get a pair of snippers!
I've used snippers, inexpensive baby scissors for years. I saw this and thought, I'll give it a try. What a waste of time. Had I read the small print on the Amazon page I'd have noticed the phrase "not easy to be cut". Well, that says it all. Things are comparative I guess, but to cut your fingers on a pair of snippets would take a deliberate intent to damage, certainly a cut would be a very rare accident. If you look at the pictures provided on the page the problem is clear, protection of the thumb that has the blade is never going to protect the opposing finger. There is even a picture of a cut finger! They don't even work out cheaper than snippers. You can buy 14 pairs of snipper for under a tenner and they last for years. I have never cut myself on snippers either. They are also useful for lots of other tasks. I keep a couple of pairs in my sewing box!

Uncomfortable
When I saw this product, I thought it would be very useful for my "little garden" , but it appears it is not. It is sharp and does the job, but it's uncomfortable to use, specially with small plants, it is much faster and easier to do this with the scissors. Another thing is that those silicone protective caps, aren't very protective, I could feel the blade when cutting the leafs, so if pressed to hard, it could cut your finger.Overall not comfortable and doesn't look safe.
