Amazing Little Beasts in my Ears
Overall, SoundPEATS is good quality stuff. I have ran into an issue with one set of Bluetooth headphones, but the warranty was quickly honored. I say that because how a company responds to issues is a huge factor on how they value customers and the feedback they offer. Now, as far as the SoundPEATS Truengine 3 SE earbuds, I will say that it is about time that earbuds came with foam tips (just like safety ear plugs)!! I have had two sets of the earbuds and both came with various sized tips, but they were rubber. The small and medium rubber tips are horrible for holding the earbuds in my ear and the large ones hurt after a short time. I only used those for a few weeks before handing them off to some poor soul that was desperate for a set. I prefer good fitting and sounding earbuds. The fact that the SoundPEATS Truengine 3 SE earbuds came with foam tips is a FREAKING HUGE PLUS!!! Now for the product review:Sound Quality – 5 Stars: I am pleased with the overall sound quality. Good low-end bass response, clear higher frequency, and voices are easy to distinguish. As mentioned earlier, foam tips are included and this undoubtedly adds to the excellent sound quality. I have numerous sets (over a dozen) of SoundPEATS and other name brand Bluetooth headphones and these are in my top three. Top three because undoubtedly, the battery life will be the biggest hurdle (explained later). This is no fault of the Truengine 3 SE earbuds because all two-piece Bluetooth earbuds suffer from short battery life when compared to Bluetooth headphones that are a single piece design. This is pure physics…smaller device equals smaller battery equals less play time between charges. With that being said, these will be my go to for yard work because they will allow me to use hearing protection over them.Button Interaction – 4.5 Stars: The buttons are sensitive and responsive, but I have found it hard to just push the button (on either side) and get the response I want. This is most likely due to my inexperience with them, but I found that if I “pinch” the earbud while trying to operate, this helps greatly. I do not think this requires a full star lower because I hope to get the knack for operating them after repeated uses. I will say, that I did like how the manual laid out the button operation (see Product Diagram and Button Control images). It did make it clear to understand. As mentioned earlier, I have had several sets of Bluetooth headphones and earbuds so the buttons operated similarly. I just found it nice to have easy to reference information. You can manually turn them off without putting them in the case, but have to hold the button for approximately 10 seconds. 10 seconds???? Really???? My God that’s forever in a, “I want it now” world. The deducted half star was due to when attempting to manually power them off, the earbuds will go through the hierarchy shown in the Product Diagram image. What I mean is that:• If you hold the right button to manually power it off, the next track will start after holding it for 1.5 seconds, then it will disconnect from my phone after holding it for about 3 – 4 seconds, and then after 10 seconds it will power off.• If you hold the left button to manually power it off, the track will start over after holding it for 1.5 seconds, then it will disconnect from my phone after holding it for about 3 – 4 seconds, and then after 10 seconds it will power off.Granted, both units will reconnect easily, but my God that’s quite the process. Seems like the button program logic could allow the bypass of all other options until the button is released. But since I have the programming ability of a backscratcher, I deal with it.Bluetooth Range – 5 Stars: I was able to go further than any other set of Bluetooth headphones/earbuds from my phone. Historically, I was able to go approximately 25 – 30 feet away and through 2 walls before the signal would break up. I was able to go over 30 feet and put 5 walls between me and my phone before the signal started to get iffy. In my book, that’s super-duper awesome!!Bluetooth Connectivity – 4.5 Stars: The right one is the master and the left is the slave. Upon removal form the case, the right one connected immediately. AWESOME! The left connect to the right immediately. Again, AWESOME! However, as mentioned in the Bluetooth Interactions section, the manually powering down process is excessive and jacks with how the earbuds connect. They connect easily, but if you manually power them down it will take a little longer to listen to where you left off because the earbuds will have to spend additional time to find the phone and reconnect. In addition to that, you will have to work on getting to the part of the song you were listening to if it wasn’t over because it will skip to the next track (using the right earbud button) or start the track over (using the left earbud button) while powering them down. All in all, the connectivity is great, but half a star is deducted for the disconnecting from my phone in the process of powering down.Battery Life – 4.5 Stars: SoundPEATS states that the case is 500 mAh and each earbud is 55 mAh (i.e. 110 mAh for both). With that, and in an ideal world, a fully charged case it will charge both earbuds approximately 4.5 times. If, based on the SoundPEATS specs (see Specifications image) the case will provide 30 hours of playtime which equates to approximately 6.5 hours of playtime when using both earbuds. If only one earbud is needed, then the playtime can be doubled. I have seen close to this and am satisfied with the battery life of the earbuds. I have to deduct half a star because even though 6.5 hours is good, it still doesn’t make it through a work day before needing to be recharged. I understand there is a balance between battery life, battery size, and earbud size, but it would nice if they lasted a full 8 hour workday.Overall – 5 Stars: These are amazing earbuds and the SoundPEATS name means good stuff. There are not perfect and there are a few minor issues that are not my flavor ice cream, but overall these earbuds are liked and will get heavy usage during the summer months (i.e. yard work). I will have to finish my inside workday with an additional set of headphones, but I am glad to own a set of these earbuds. Lastly, these were a little pricey, but have found them far superior to the other earbuds I have owned. You definitely get what you pay for and SoundPEATS lived up to their name again.

The best sound for any TWS earbuds!
Overall, this is an excellent earbud with great sound, and very hard to beat for value. However, it lost most points for how it feels/fits in my ear. Also, to be transparent, the microphone was horrible, but I didn't ding it too much because I don't use it much.Looks 3 stars. It's not my preferred form factor as it protrudes out of my ear and feels heavy compared to the other type that hangs off the ear. It looks like I'm wearing a hearing aid instead of wireless buds. However, taking a look at many other commuters around me it seems to be the most common format. So, this is just my preference.Controls 4 stars. The controls on both buds are buttons vs so many others that are touch sensitive. I like the tactile feedback of pressing buttons as deliberate actions vs. accidentally touches when I am simply inserting or adjusting the bud. The only complaint I have is that when I press the buttons it pushes the bud into my ear canal and that can be uncomfortable at times. However I was able to figure out an angle that would not press in to the ear so sharply.Battey 5 stars. No issues for me on my 2 hour commute each way. By the time I start my next commute it's fully charged. I like the charging case. It's compact and very easy to carry around. Buds are easy to take out and return. My only comment would be to design the case to be easier to open.Comfort/Fit 2 stars. My least favorite category for this bud as it has a tendency to slip out over time. Perhaps it's the form factor, or simply the way it plugs in to my ear canal but I can't seem to find the perfect fit among the three sizes. I settled on medium, and I have to adjust/re-insert it every few minutes if I'm walking. Haven't taken it running yet, but I don't think I would get away with it. Chewing makes it come out even quicker.Sound 5 stars. Very clear, vibrant, and deep when expected. Best one compared to other TWS in this price point, and the main reason that I would buy this earbud over others in the class.Noise cancellation. Nothing like my Bose QC35, but it is noticeable that I need to take a bud out in order to have a conversation with someone. The music/sound is a little clearer or easier to focus on because of less background noise.Price 5 stars. Not expensive comparatively, and within the range that doesn't give you anguish if you didn't make the best choice for your money, such as paying 4x more for Apple, Bose or Beats.Value 5 stars. At this price point, it's a great value compared to anything out there or more expensive that I've tried. It's on the higher end of the inexpensive category, but the sound quality makes this a great option.Case 4.5 stars - Nice and compact, easy to hold and is slightly curved that fits nicely in my palm. No problem in putting this in a pant pocket. Taking a half star away because I wish it was easier to open.Microphone/phone quality 1 star. Callers often couldnt hear me at all or I sounded extremely muffled. It's really not usable for phone calls or any app that requires a microphone.Overall, I would recommend this to my friends that prefer this form factor, and certainly worthwhile compared to the Airpods, Bose, Jabra price points. This is a no-brainer if you are just getting into the TWS category and just want to experiment with works for you. This may be a showstopper if using the microphone is very important to you, otherwise, I just take my phone calls off BT.
