What is this guy talking about?
I never review my purchases but I feel like I have to here. This book is written by a guy having fantasy thoughts for the fantasy Island fire department. Tough read. I'm sure you're like me and only buying this book because you have to (promotional exam, college, etc.) So you'll see what I'm talking about. It's like if someone took all of their daydreams about what the fire service should look like and put it into a textbook.

Content, for the most part, is trash
Not worth the one star.I'm sorry. but I can't be forced to read this book and not share my opinion on it.A 20 year veteran and 30 year student of the fire service. This book, unfortunately, was chosen by my FD to cover firefighter safety and survival topics on our Captain's promotional exam.It should have not been.I have read hundreds of fire service books and this is, by far, the worst I have read.Perhaps there was well-meaning intent behind the book, but for instance to suggest that simulators using little plastic balls raining down on a firefighter to simulate water droplets raining down on a firefighter or flashover simulated by heat from a furnace duct and bright lights on a screen overhead as "realistic training as possible" and is a step in the right direction of firefighter safety?!?!? (page 178)Please do the fire service a favor and rid it of this book.FYI - I was a Courage to Be Safe instructor and Everyone Goes Home Advocate for several years. That is not the issue here. The many examples of far fetched ways to "improve firefighter safety" is ridiculous.
