Tips For Easy Assembly
This my second purchase of this stand; so I thought I'd mention how to avoid the assembly issues that others have mentioned in their reviews. First; it is just the usual Chinese-made quality anyone expects out of China. I gave it 5 stars anyway because it was exactly the questionable quality I expected out of China; no surprises!! It is a nice sturdy decent-for-the-money stand though. Here's my list of assembly tips: (1) When assembling the legs, get all of the leg bolts for all 4 legs started before you tighten anything. Leave the nuts pretty loose until all are in their respective holes. Then you can start tightening, and the legs will "bend" themselves into place. (2) These are the usual junk Chinese "rubber-like" bolts, and will strip/break easily. Use a torque wrench set at about 15 lbs. If you go to 20 lbs., you will ruin a few bolts. Of course another option is to go the hardware store and buy some decent hardware! (3) On the welded-on bolts that the rubber feet screw into, you need to run a thread chaser or tap through them first, as the threads are full of paint and welding slag. That's it. Do these extra steps, and the unit will fall together like it was made in the USA!!

OK Stand, Could Be Great (with some tweaking) but still OK!
I like this stand for several reasons... it is semi heavy duty, easy to put together and at a reasonable price for a dedicated fixture that will remain in my garage for a long time. The key to putting the base together is to first lightly screw in all the screws before tightening them. The holes are slightly off center holding the legs together when in pieces, but are perfectly aligned once you crank down all the bolts. Getting the nuts on the inside of the tube to thread were a problem for my big hands until I put a piece of duck tape with the sticky side out around my index finger and then just placed the nut on the tip which held it in place for the bolt to thread. I've mounted a buffer on the stand and the vibrations have not bothered the friction bolt that maintains the height in any way at all despite several hours of buffing. Yes, it would be nice if the manufacturer had put holes in the top tube for the bolt to slide in to secure it at any given height as this would really secure the top but so far no slippage so I don't worry about it. The vibrations do however effect the mounting plate which seems cheap and flimsy compared to the rest of the stand. It has a loud rattle no matter how hard it is cranked down and seems like it was overthunked:) as you first have to secure your tool (in my case a buffer) to the plate and then secure the plate to the stand with nuts encased in large wood knobs. A heavier mounting plate that secures directly to the stand would solve this problem... but it still works so I will live with it and see how long it lasts. The only other negative I see is that the adjustable rubber feet don't come with locking nuts but that's a simple fix. Overall I like it, seems a good value, doesn't take up as much room as a bench table and I give it a 4/5th thumbs up!

Grand Stand!
I received ths HTC HGP-10 Bench Grinder Stand as a 2006 Christmas gift from my daughter and son-in-law. I finished putting it together in about 20 minutes. This is one nifty stand - sturdy, height adjustable and easily leveled. I can either stand or sit to grind, depending on what is more comfortable to me at the time. My Wilton 17202 6 Amp 8-Inch Bench Grinder fits on it perfectly. I am very pleased with this stand and recommend buying it for yourself. ~ The BossUPDATE: January 30, 2007 ~ I ordered and received the HTC Universal Tool Stand and I am just as pleased with it as I have been with my grinder stand. I am using the Universal Tool Stand for my Werner Vise. It fits with room to spare for anything else I might need when using the vise. The ability to raise and lower the tables is great. ~ The Boss

Works fine, but...
This stand looks great and the finish appears to be high quality. I like the easy height adjustment and the stand works well for normal home shop grinding with a 6" grinder. I guessed that I would have to drill holes to mount my Craftsman grinder, and I was right. However, I didn't expect to have to drill holes to secure the legs. The holes to attach the legs to the stand were fine, but the holes to attach the legs to each other weren't even close, so I had to drill out all of them. Considering the quality of the components I would have figured that the engineering would have been better as far as the holes in the legs. I even tried to align all the holes before tightening any bolts, but still no go. So beware - more than "some assembly required".
