Not your typical Binchy
This is an entertaining book and the style is Binchy all the way. But I miss the complex stories and the building of the characters in her other books. She always can draw you into the story and make you like or dislike the characters. In the short stories there is not time for the characters to flesh out. But if it has her name on it, I will read it. Although I think I have read all of her novels and am so sad that there will be no more. I really miss her

Maeve's times/ Maeve Binchy
Anyone who has enjoyed the writing of Maeve Binchy will surely want to read this collection of her newspaper articles. Her sense of humour in these short pieces is very obvious, as is her sense of the ridiculous in her fellow men and women. To me these pieces reveal the person behind the novels, it makes me wish I could have known her. A real treat, and a fitting tribute to a well-loved author.

not as good as her fiction, in my opinion
I really do love Maeve Binchy but this book does not read the way her fiction does. They are individual articles and don't particularly have connections to one another. If you are planning to sit down and read, this did not hold my attention as long as i thought it would. This book was recommended to me by a good friend who said it made her feel close to Maeve. I did not get that same vibe. sorry

I didn't expect to love it so much
Because this is not a novel, I didn't expect to love it so much. In a way, it is autobiographical. I enjoyed getting to look inside Maeve Binchy's brain. She is and always will be one of my favorite authors. I love her insights, her humor, her style of writing - and this book is no acceptation. The more I got into it, the harder it was to lay it down.

A Different, but same, Maeve Binchy
I was saddened to hear of the loss of Maeve Binchey, one of my favorite authors. Imagine my delight in coming across this collection of her nonfictional articles. They read just like her fiction - interesting characters, unique ancedotes and a very special insight into humanity that comes across in her writing. So glad this book was published.

As usual....Maeve does not disappoint!
I have read every book that Maeve Binchy wrote and loved every word. This book was, certainly, no exception. It was interesting to, essentially, learn where her stories and characters originated. She gives us a great peek into what made her who she was and lets us share in her triumphs and disappointments along the way. You will not be disappointed in reading this book. The sad part is, she is no longer around, but good to know her stories and characters will live on. They are all worth reading again and again.

Interesting articles
This book is a compilation of Maeve Binchy's articles in the Irish Times Newspaper. Many are about her travels and experiences as a teacher. Very interesting because I hadn't realized Ms Binchy was such a globetrotter in her early years. I love reading about her take on the world.

Love Maeve Benchy
Don't know why, but this book never delivered to my Kindle and still can't find why. Must be good, as Maeve never wrote anything bad.

An Excellent Goodbye to Maeve Binchy
I have always been a fan of Maeve Binchy. I loved her books, especially the earlier ones. I loved her style of writing, and admired her fantastic imagination and her ability to involve you in her characters. I had an open mind regarding "Maeve's Times" I had no high expectations and was very pleased when I listened to it. She shares her early life at school and the pressures on her to do well in the Leaving Cert exams as she was the eldest in the family. She got two honours, and surprisingly only a pass in English. There are hilarious stories of her time as a teacher, and her early experiences as a writer for the Irish times. She shares her ideas for "would be writers" to get started writing by developing the habit of writing just the way you speak. Indeed that was just her style, don't stop and think and think, say it aloud and then put it on paper. She also comments on current affairs of various times and again I found it interesting to get her slant on them. My favourite parts were various stories of people she had either met or had observed, some of them made me laugh out loud. I feel that this final book is a very fitting tribute to her and I am grateful that her husband, Gordon Snell, made this possible. It is certainly different from her story books, but it is just Maeve, and I for one enjoyed this book I will miss her and will cherish her fabulous books.

Classic Maeve
I was reading Maeve's articles long before she published her first book and could not wait for Saturday to read her latest Irish Times column. This selection is a little gem of articles full of the wit and wisdom we come to expect from her. It's almost like she was talking directly to you, the reader, as is her inimitable style. A book you can dip in and out of and one which all her fans will enjoy. Loved it!

What a great book to pour over at anytime of the day.
What a great book to pour over at anytime of the day. It's many stories make you smile. You can almost her Maeve telling them herself in her heart-warming voice. I loved 'Maeve''s Times' & I loved Maeve too.

which I have always enjoyed reading by her
I didn't know what to expect when I got this book. I thought maybe it was one she had written just before she'd died and was published posthumously. However, it is a collection of newspaper articles and short stories that Maeve had written over her whole career. So, instead of being a story, which I have always enjoyed reading by her, you find out more about Maeve, the person. Therefore, it's very different to her novels. Worth reading, however, you would be disappointed if you thought it was another story!
